This Friday it’s time to shuck off that business attire and get out of the house to enjoy some of the best things Savannah has to offer: art, food, fun and music. The First Friday Art March will celebrate its 30th run in an effort to build the local creative economy on Oct. 3.

Art March Savannah is an ongoing event by the non-profit organization Art Rise Savannah and numerous supporters in the community. It provides creative and financial support for local artists such as Adriana Normand who is exhibiting her works in “Cheval Noir,” an exhibition at Black Orchid Tattoo Gallery.

More than 15 small businesses will participate in the event, including Foxy Loxy Print Gallery & Café, The Foundery Coffee Pub and Whit’s End.

This week’s art march will kick off at the open-air DeSoto Avenue Indie Arts Market where the Art March Live Local Music Stage will be set up.

Marchers are encouraged to interact with local artists and artisans and expand their collections with the unique handmade items that the vendors have to offer. Illustrators, graphic designers, painters and craftspeople of all walks of life will attend. There is something for everyone, including handmade jewelry, illustrated greeting cards, soaps, clothing and more.

A free trolley service will shuttle between the Art March Savannah locations. A full map of the stops and locations is available online, as well as a full schedule of this Friday’s march.
