Families Draw Closer
According to new information released by the US Census Bureau on Tuesday the number of parents, children and other relatives who live with each other grew 42% from 2000 to 2007.
In 2000 the average US family size was 3.14 and in 2007 that number grew to 3.2. The average family size in the City of Savannah in the 2006 estimate was 3.16. Parents moving in with children or other relatives was the largest gainer, up 67% nationwide. Housing costs and the economy are said to be the biggest reasons for the trend.

US Government Discusses Bailout
The federal government has spent the past week discussing a proposed 700 billion dollar bailout for the financial industry, the largest such bailout since the Great Depression. If passed the plan would give 700 billion dollars to the Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson, to loan to struggling Wall St. institutions. The money is raised by selling securities. The legislation would raise the public debt limit to 11.3 trillion dollars, or 37,000 dollars per person. The bailout alone will cost 2,000 dollars per person.
