College Security Report: Aug. 12-18, 2008

Aug. 12

8 a.m.—A SCAD employee reported to security that four projectors were missing from Crites Hall. Police responded to the scene and generated a report.

7:57 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Crites Hall. A SCAD student was suffering from an Asthma attack. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

Aug. 13

10:43 a.m.—Security responded to an incident at Physical Resources involving a SCAD vehicle and a parked personal staff vehicle. Police responded to the scene and generated a report.

Aug. 14

7:07 a.m.—An employee of a janitorial company, reported to security that a glass window East Parlor room was broken out. Photos were taken. A police report was generated.

9:03 a.m. —While conducting a building check, security found the side door of Streamliner Diner open. Nothing appeared to have been disturbed. The door was secured.

10:50 a.m.—A SCAD staff member found damage to the wall on the front of Evans Hall. The damage was photographed.

1:32 p.m..—A vehicle crash at Gulfstream Center involved two cars. No injuries were reported. A police report was generated.

1:48 p.m.—Security was notified that five projectors were missing from Pepe Hall. Photos were taken and a police report was generated.

5:46 p.m.—While conducting a security check of Alexander Hall, a supervisor detected a foul odor in the area. Police were called and later a dead fish was discovered in a dumpster. No police report was generated.

Aug. 15

2:57 a.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation at Arnold Hall. Upon investigation, it was determined that the alarm was caused by a sensor malfunction. The alarm was silenced and reset.

8:55 a.m.—Security responded to a report of graffiti on the wall and air conditioner unit of Jen Library. Photos were taken of the graffiti.

2:19 p.m.—Security discovered the fire exit of the Oglethorpe House ballroom was unsecured. A patrol of the premises was completed and the door was secured.

3:29 p.m.—Security was notified of a crash involving a SCAD student on a bicycle and an Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department vehicle at the intersection of Liberty and Habersham streets. The student was uninjured and refused medical treatment, but was given a citation by the police.

3:45 p.m.—Security responded to the Jen Library, Propes Hall and the Student Center due to a power outage caused by a problem with a Georgia Power underground transformer. The affected buildings were secured until power was restored the following day.

Aug. 16

5:35 p.m.—Security responded to a theft report at Montgomery Hall. A staff member stated that a Playstation 3 console and a Sony Wii console were missing from rooms 112 and 322. The items were last seen on aug. 15 at 10:30 p.m. Police responded and generated a report.

Aug. 17

9:51 p.m. —An individual unaffiliated with SCAD entered the security dispatch office and stated he was experiencing chest pains and had just fallen to the ground outside. At the individual’s request, security called EMS. EMS responded to the scene and transported the individual to the hospital.
