News brief: Police seeking information on sexual assault

Police are investigating the sexual assault of a woman that took place during the early morning on June 17.

The 26-year-old woman said she was at a friend’s house off Fort Argyle Road when she stepped outside to find an area with cell phone reception. She walked to Fort Argyle when a vehicle stopped. Two men got out and forced her into a wooded area where they proceeded to both physically and sexually assault her, though they ran off when they heard a car approaching.

The woman was treated at a Savannah hospital for injuries incurred during the struggle.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the two Hispanic men who were in a conversion van that is possibly tan in color.
