News brief: Savannah’s July 4 festivities

Entertainment, like live music, will go on this weekend on the Savannah River, but the first fireworks celebrating July 4 start on July 3 on Tybee Island. The fireworks will begin 30 minutes after dark around 9:30 p.m on the south side of Tybee Island. Officials ask that visitors dispose of waste and be mindful of the fact that no glass containers are allowed on the beach.

On the morning of July 4, Tybee Island will also host their annual Beach Sweep clean up project. All those interested in getting involved should meet at the Pavilion at 6:30 a.m. In addition to Tybee’s firework show, in honor of Independence Day, fireworks along Savannah’s riverfront begin at 9:15 p.m. on July 4.
