News brief: SCAD performing arts students victorious

Fourth-year performing arts major Daniel Molina won the Southeastern Regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan National Audition. He beat out 200 other students, won a $500 scholarship and won a trip to the Kennedy Center to perform at the National Festival.

Molina’s scene partner, fourth-year performing arts major Kelly Rogers, also won an award, the Classical Acting Award. Rogers was the first non-competitor to win the award. She will also be heading to the National Festival to perform.

The two will be competing for one of two $3,000 Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships along with other prizes including a scholarship and residency with the renowned Shaw Festival, an apprenticeship with the Williamstown Theatre Festival and a fellowship working and traveling with the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
