The Bay Street Theater at Club One has been busy jumping to the left, stepping to the right, and preparing to drive Savannah insane with their pelvic thrusts and another run through the Time Warp.

This will be the fourth year that “The Rocky Horror Show” will be produced by the company. The cast has been working tirelessly to prepare for their October run, with the finale taking place on Halloween night.

Christopher Blair returns as the infamous transvestite Frank-N-Furter, this time accompanied by several SCAD students, starring in roles including Janet, Brad, and even the muscle-bound Rocky.

“This is an outlet for SCAD students to showcase their art,” said Cecelia Tran Arango, who plays both Magenta and the Usherette. “They’re very excited and eager about this, which is refreshing.”

The stage production was originally produced almost 40 years ago (1973) and two years later spawned the cult film adaptation starring Tim Curry (in his first film role) and Susan. With this production in Savannah, however, you can expect a much wilder ride than even one of the typically chaotic move screenings.

“It’s almost like an adventure, because I don’t think they know what they’re getting into,” laughed Arango.

The theater, which holds a maximum capacity of around 100 attendees, will be an intimate experience.

“I love that people are right there in you face. I love that you get to walk in right through the aisles. It is a different experience. It’s very engrossing,” said Arango.

One of the most beloved features of the movie screenings will still happen during the stage adaptation though.

“We still do the call backs … a lot of people like doing that. The people come back again and again and do that throughout the whole show.”

Tickets can be purchased online from the Club One website. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m., except for on Halloween Night when there will be a special showing at midnight in addition to the regular show. There is also a science fiction special double feature on Halloween. Tickets between $20 and $25.

Showtimes: Oct. 19, 20 (21+), Oct. 21 (all ages), Oct. 26, 27 (21+), Oct. 28 (all ages), Oct. 31 (both shows 21+). Club One is located at 1 Jefferson Street.
