Savannah Ocean Exchange promotes ocean education

This week, Savannah Ocean Exchange officials are holding their second event series.

The organization, founded in 2010, aims to promote solutions for the oceans and coasts. With presentations by partners including Georgia Tech and the Ogeechee Riverkeeper, the event series will cover a number of topics.

Savannah Ocean Exchange co-founder Cathy Sakas says the programs target every demographic.

“These education exhibits are designed to reach students, but I see a lot of adults coming in here too so they’re very interested in looking at ocean science and technology. We have developed a series of programs that brings a different aspect to how people connect to our ocean and coastal resources.”

American Idol winner Ruben Studdard performed as part of the event series earlier this week. Savvy in Savannah this is Nick Lawrence reporting for SCAD District.
