SCAD announces honorees for 2014 film festival

Asa Butterfield, Matt Bomer, Renée Zellweger, Gena Rowlands and Analeigh Tipton will receive honors at the 2014 SCAD Film Festival, which runs from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1.

Butterfield, known for his roles in “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas,” “Hugo” and “Ender’s Game,” will receive the Rising Star Award on Oct. 25 before the opening screening of “5 to 7.”

Bomer, of “White Collar” fame, will receive a Spotlight Award on Oct. 26. He will also participate in a Q&A after the screening of “The Normal Heart.”

Zellweger will also receive a Spotlight Award on Oct. 27. She won the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress in Anthony Minghella’s “Cold Mountain.”

Rowlands will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on Oct. 30. She will also be participating in a Q&A discussion following the screenings of “The Notebook” and “Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks.”

Tipton will also receive the Rising Star Award on Nov. 1. Tipton is known for her roles in “Two Night Stand,” alongside Miles Teller, and “Lucy,” with Scarlett Johansson. She currently stars in ABC’s “Manhattan Love Story.”
