Shalom Y’all Jewish Food Festival

By Tiffany Cullen

On Sun., Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., thousands will descend on Forsyth Park for great-tasting Jewish food and awesome entertainment.

The Shalom Ya’ll Jewish Food Festival, now in its 21st year, offers those in the community an enjoyable day filled with family entertainment and tasty morsels.

Tickets for food cost $1 each and can be purchased at onsite booths the day of the event.

Arrive early. Every year, the line for the freshly fried potato latkes extends halfway through the park and draws more still with its appetizing aroma. The Sisterhood will offer fresh baked apple pastries, a variety of cookies and velvety cakes that delight the senses.

Performances on the main stage near the Forsyth fountain include the Carolina Klezmer Project, traditional folk dancers and a children’s ensemble.

What started in 1988 as a fundraiser for the temple and a way to celebrate Savannah’s long Jewish history, continues today as a way to bring the community together for a family fun-filled day to enjoy authentic Jewish food and listen to great live entertainment.

The menu also features a variety of deli sandwiches, Noodle Kugel, bagels with cream cheese and lox, Blintzes, freshly baked challah, ah mein lo mein, Kosher hotdogs, hummus with pita and much more. Congregation members from Mickve Israel volunteer their time, set up and prepare the delicious food.

Take a break. Spend a day in the park with friends enjoying lively music and eating amazing food.
