This week the Lady Bees, SCAD’s women’s lacrosse team, is in Illinois competing for its second consecutive National Women’s Lacrosse League National Championship.

The team already set a school record when it wrapped the regular season 11-0 and are now positioned to be the first SCAD athletic team in school history to finish a season undefeated.

On Thursday, the team defeated Tennessee Wesleyan University in the first round of the national championship tournament at Lindenwood University – Belleville. The Lady Bees will play No. 5 Indiana Tech Friday at 5 p.m.

SCAD went into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and continues to dominate the bracket. If SCAD wins Friday’s match, they’ll compete for the national title in a 5:30 p.m. Saturday match.

The school record and SCAD’s contention for a second national title brought praise from SCAD’s top administrator.

“Let’s hear it for SCAD women’s lacrosse who netted an unprecedented feat in the history of SCAD athletics: an undefeated regular season (11-0),” said SCAD president and co-founder Paula Wallace in an email to students and faculty.

“Last weekend, they won the National Women’s Lacrosse League (NWLL) South Region Championships in Columbia, S.C. Keep cheering as they head to Illinois for the NWLL National Championships,” said Wallace.
