Student-written play to premiere at Mondanaro
The SCAD departments of Performing Arts and Dramatic Writing present the play “Dog Costumes.”
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Nov. 6-7 at the Mondanaro Theater in Crites Hall, 217 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Performances are free and open to the public.
The play is written by dramatic writing student David Ruzicka, and directed by Performing Arts professor Laurence Ballard.
Synopsis: A group of apparent strangers collide in a spontaneously mutating writing workshop, in a place more than a little off-kilter yet oddly close to home. This surreal first encounter sends ripples across their lives, exposing surprising connections and showing viewer and character alike that things are not as they seem. The audience will learn about basic conversation in foreign languages, Rubik’s cubes, South Carolinian customs, character creation, club spirit and exciting new developments in gender relations.
There may even be some song and dance.
