District: How is golf different here than in Australia?
Bunting: It’s more of a team thing here. Back home it’s more individual. Just the environment’s different.
District: How do you feel about your teammates?
Bunting: I love my teammates. They’re great to be with. I think of more of them as brothers more than my friends, in a way. They definitely push me to my reach my goals.
District: Is it different being on a team with fellow artists?
Bunting: I guess I really don’t see at that just because it’s so competitive. Some people just think they can only do one thing, while others start to create different shots.
District: How does artistic thinking affect how you play golf?
Bunting: I think it’s definitely a strength, in a way, just because I can create different shots that other people that don’t have that creativity can’t do.
District: What’s your best shot?
Bunting: Knock downs.
District: What’s your weakest?
Bunting: [hesitates] Probably chipping.
District: When did you start golfing?
Bunting: I started when I was 12.
District: Have you played any other sports?
Bunting: Football, cricket, basketball, surfing.
District: Why did you choose golf?
Bunting: My father sat me down when I was 12 and said that I had to pick one sport, just because he didn’t want me to be all right at more than one sport. He wanted me to pick one and dedicate time to it.
District: How do you balance school and golf? Which comes first?
Bunting: Well I’m here on a golf scholarship so I would probably say golf probably gets a little bit more time, but I definitely like to treat them 50/50. Because I know how important school is as well as golf. You just have to time manage yourself really well.
District: Do you plan to compete in golf after college?
Bunting: Definitely. I’d definitely like to finish my four years here first and then try to get on a nationwide tour. That’s always been the goal.
District: What is your next golfing goal?
Bunting: My goal would be for this year to make All-America. I’ve set myself up well so I’d like to make All-America and then keep producing that for the next two years. And then like I said, go and turn professional or get my card somehow and try to make a living out of it. But if not, I’ve always got my school to support me.
