SCAD Radio is looking for a new athletics announcer to call this season’s basketball, lacrosse, softball and baseball games. There will be auditions for the position on Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. The games will be broadcast live on SCAD Radio online at www.scadradio.org in a play-by-play format.
There will be teams of two announcers sent to games that are responsible for setting up of the broadcast equipment and will be doing the commentary over the games. They would also work with a producer who will be in the station taking care of commercials during the breaks in the game.
The announcers would only be asked to cover home games, which are held in Savannah or at the Athletic Center across the Talmadge Bridge in South Carolina.
At the audition students will be “given a roster and asked to announce for a basketball game which will be played on mute,” said Wendy Daniel, SCAD Radio sports director. Daniel also said that the announcers would be compensated $35-40 per game announced, depending on the sport.
