Tibetan Monks exhibit sand mandalas at the Jepson

From the opening on Tuesday, September 13, to the exhibit’s closing reception on Sunday, September 18, the Tibetan monks of the Drepung Loseling Monastery filled the Jepson Center for the Arts with color, and millions of grains of sand, in the mandala paintings they created.
The event welcomed a large crowd with music, chants, a meditation lecture, as well as a free sand painting session for children on Saturday and the ceremonial destruction of the mandala on Sunday. The decomposition of the colorful paintings followed with a procession to the Savannah River.
