College Security Report: Feb. 4-8, 2009
Feb. 4
9:30 a.m.— A SCAD student notified security that someone had stolen an iPod from his vehicle while it was parked at the Weston / Dyson lot. He stated that he had parked the car on Feb. 1, and had noticed the iPod missing on Feb. 4. There were no visible signs of forced entry. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and issued a report.
11:30 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that she had accidentally struck another vehicle while attempting to park at Ex Libris. Neither party wanted police response.
8:06 p.m.— Security discovered an unsecured alley door at Pepe Hall. Security patrolled the interior of the building and secured the door.
Feb. 5
12:42 a.m.— Security received an anonymous call stating that there were two women and a man walking in the woods behind Boundary Village. Security responded to Boundary Village and patrolled the area, but no one was found in the vicinity.
1:15 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that he had witnessed a vehicle strike the rear passenger side of a Volvo parked at York Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and issued a report.
9:31 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Boundary Village. Security determined the alarm was false and reset the system.
Feb. 6
5:56 a.m.— Security received a call from a woman requesting help finding her son, a SCAD student. She said she believed her son was working in Eichberg Hall, but that she was unable to reach him. Security was able to locate the student at Eichberg and requested that he call his mother.
3:09 p.m.— Security was notified that there was graffiti damage in the Oglethorpe House elevator. Security took pictures of the damage.
Feb. 7
6:18 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security determined the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the dorm. Security silenced and reset the alarm.
Feb. 8
2:01 a.m.— Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department reported to security that a vehicle passing under the Old Arch area of SCAD had been struck by water balloons and bricks. The police stated that the unidentified suspects had been wearing dark clothing. Security informed the police that they would add extra patrols to Old Arch and the walking bridge above the roadway. The police issued a report.
2:08 a.m.— A SCAD student arrived at the Weston/Dyson security booth with lacerations to his face. He said he had received the injuries in an off-campus fall. Security contacted the resident assistant and informed her of the situation. The student declined EMS response.
2:41 a.m.— Security responded to a call box alarm activation at Eckburg Hall. Security patrolled the area but did not find any problems.
9 a.m.— Security discovered the front door to Bobbie’s Diner was unsecured. Security was unable to contact anyone to secure the door. Extra patrols of the area were added.
12:27 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Hamilton Hall. A SCAD student stated that his knee popped out of its socket while he was attempting to sit in a chair. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to the hospital.
1:22 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Boundary Village. Security determined the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the dorm. Security silenced and reset the alarm.
5 p.m.— Security discovered damage to the fence near the Dumpster at Bobbie’s Diner. Security took pictures of the damaged area.
7:54 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.
10:52 p.m.— Security received a call from a SCAD student requesting to speak with an on-call counselor. She said she was in no immediate danger, but just wanted to speak with a counselor. Security contacted a counselor and transferred the student’s call.
11:34 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Wallin Hall. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.
