College Security Report, Sept. 8-14, 2008

Sept. 9

2:23 p.m.—Security responded to a smoke detector activation in a room at Barnard Village. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that it was a false alarm. The alarm was silenced and reset.

Sept. 10

6:28 p.m.—Security discovered the upper exterior door to Charlton Hall was unsecured. The director of security was notified and arranged for a locksmith to secure the door.

Sept. 12

8 a.m.—Security responded to fire on the roof of the Ex Libris building. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be an air conditioning unit.

11 a.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident in the Weston/Dyson parking lot involving an American Coach Bus. Police responded to the scene and generated a report. No injuries were reported.

5:56 p.m.—Security discovered a rear door of the Gulfstream Center was unsecured. A patrol of the building was conducted and the door was secured.

7:27 p.m.— Security discovered the door of the Residence Life and Housing office was unsecured. The resident assistant on duty was notified and the door was secured.

Sept. 13

2:30 a.m.— Security discovered the fire door to Poetter Hall was unsecured. A patrol of the building was conducted and the door was secured.

11:45 a.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation at Kiah Hall. An alarm company technician responded to the scene and stated that the alarm was caused by a dusty smoke detector in room 206.

1:38 p.m.—A SCAD student reported that someone had stolen her bicycle while it was locked to the bike rack at Eckburg Hall. Police responded to the scene and generated a report.

7:25 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had tampered with his bike lock while it was locked to the bike rack at Oglethorpe House. He did not want to police to be notified.

7:34 p.m.—Security responded to a medical call at Turner Annex. A SCAD student stated that she had removed stitches from her hip and that it might be infected. She did not want EMS notified, but was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center by SCAD transportation.

9:30 p.m.—A SCAD student reported to security that her bike was stolen from a bike rack between Broughton and State streets. Police responded to the scene and generated a report.

10:45 p.m.—Security responded to a call of an intoxicated student in Dyson House. The student was vomiting and appeared intoxicated. The resident assistant and EMS responded to the scene. The student refused EMS treatment.

Sept. 14

3:20 p.m.—The resident director reported a policy violation involving drugs at in Turner House. Police responded to the scene and arrested one student.

5:33 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Eichberg Hall. Security determined it was a false alarm and the system was silenced and reset.

8:22 p.m.— Security discovered the gate at the Telfair Plantation was unsecured. A patrol of the premises was conducted and the gate was secured.

10:55 p.m.—Security discovered the rear door of Corbin Hall to be unsecured. A patrol of the building was conducted and then the door was secured.

11:57 p.m.—According to a police report, at around 11 p.m. , three students were robbed at Liberty and E. Broad streets while traveling from Turner House to Forsyth Park. Security notified the on call manager and residence director.
