The “Short n’ Sweet” tour is not short, but it sure is sweet. From what is being released so far, Ms. Sabrina Carpenter, who launched her fifth tour on Sept. 23, has many silly antics lined up for all her upcoming performance dates. The pop singer is prepared to exhibit what makes her and her branding so exciting and lovable.
Sabrina cauterizes herself, and her long blonde locks, as petite, silly and a little raunchy; right up the alley for producing a comical set tour. Every night, Sabrina dedicates herself to staging a unique performance for all her supporters.
With a total of forty-six upcoming tour dates, both in the U.S and international, the recorded setlist so far consists of:
“Taste” | “Opposite” |
“Good Graces” | “Because I Liked a Boy” |
“Slim Pickins” | “Coincidence” |
“Tornado Warnings” | Spin the bottle (surprise song) |
“Lie to Girls” | “Nonsense” |
“Decode” | “Dumb & Poetic” |
“Bed Chem” | “Juno” |
“Feather” | “Please, Please, Please” |
“Fast Times” | “Don’t Smile” |
“Read your Mind” | “Espresso” |
“Sharpest Tool” |
For about two hours, Sabrina performs her newest songs and fan favorites from past albums. Similar to many concerts, Sabrina opens the night with a humorous video introducing herself, resembling the beginning of an old sitcom. From the get go, the pop singer welcomes the show with a vintage-esque aesthetic. Sabrina frolics around a sixties house set, resembling almost an old-timey doll house, in more iconic outfits, matching the “Polly Pocket” aesthetic fans have been giving her. Sabrina and her team add small “commercial break” visuals throughout the set for added suspension for the heap of outfit changes and costume reveals. Sparkly outfits and cute designs on her tights, Sabrina has become one of the many fashion “it” girls of this generation, embracing a hyper feminine style.
Now, Sabrina isn’t only a “Polly Pocket” figure. Pop culture recognizes her by her spicy humor and the ability to get a crowd up laughing and enthused. And, so far, her audience interactions are not disappointing. Either planned exchanges with friends or on the spot stand up, Sabrina isn’t working late just because she’s a singer.
However, she does have the singing part wrapped around her finger. So far, her vocals are shocking concert goers and those watching from online. From high note falsettos to hearing the pure enjoyment in her voice while singing, Sabrina is proving exactly she is one of music’s next big things. Astonishing vocals matched with marvelously written songs and tunes, she is a force to keep an eye on and one many avid viewers won’t soon forget.
Sabrina, in harmony with singing, has choreography to many of the pieces she is performing. And boy, she makes it seem uncomplicated. From “Good Grace” to “Bed Chem,” the tour features consistent movement. Every second is nonstop. Some choreographed pieces have become big hits, like the cheeky positions Sabrina does in “Juno.” Continuously changing between tour dates, fans wait to see which position might come next.
Sabrina’s stances in “Juno” aren’t the only things fans anxiously wait to see change. At one point of the performance Sabrina pulls out a beer bottle to play “Spin the Bottle.” The night truly is a young girl’s dream party. From this fun little skit, Sabrina picks a mystery song to perform. Songs like Abba’s “Mamma Mia,” get the crowd going and Sabrina’s intoxicating energy keeps the night alive. She must have a double shot of espresso before walking on to stage.
Sadly, as we welcome new iconic material from the Blonde Bombshell, some of her branding has to be left behind. Despite Sabrina performing fan favorites “Feather” and “Nonsense,” she has removed some elements from both; “Feather” no longer has its iconic choreography and then “Nonsense” is missing its risqué outros. Sabrina seems to be moving forward in the pop industry, crafting a new era for herself. But fans shouldn’t be upset that it’s the end of one era — Sabrina is flourishing in pop music, creating a new way for herself with more recognizable moments. For example, her encore song “Espresso” has a comical intro to it with a cup of joe specifying the city she is currently performing in.
Sabrina, for the past couple of months, has been working nonstop, and she doesn’t seem to be wanting to slow down. She is going all out for her tour, all the way down to a silly outro thanking her fans for coming to see her sing for such a long time. She continues to brand everything as comical, making her career fun for us, but for her this size of tour is extraordinary. Sabrina had been working in the industry for over a decade and just now she is receiving her big break, and she certainly doesn’t want to waste this opportunity, especially since she is still so young. She’s living large now, and fans are excited to see what more she will have to offer.
