AIGA Club Profile
The American Institute of Graphic Arts, otherwise known as AIGA, is a community where students can learn more about the process and the business, and interact with fellow designers. The club meets on Thursdays at 8 p.m. in Adler Hall, room 143.
Thursday, April 3
AIGA has invited several graphic design students from the Lacoste study abroad program to the first meeting of the quarter. Last quarter marked the first time the graphic design department went to France. These students will not only share their work, but also their experiences–from hiking to nearby towns to figuring out the Paris metro.
Friday, April 4
The club will be participating in Relay for Life from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. The event aims to raise cancer awareness and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Non-members are encouraged to join the AIGA SCAD team.
Thursday, April 17
SCAD alumni Charlie Crosby will be the guest speaker at the meeting. He is the founder of Steam, a local print shop that creates designs for apparel, posters and cards. He and his team will talk about their business and design process.
Tuesday, April 29
AIGA, along with the advertising club The Pitch Society, will have another collaboration workshop.
Thursday, May 1
Faculty adviser Patrick Hogan will have a letterpress workshop, which includes a demo with the club members.
Thursday, May 15
Guest speakers from Duffy & Partners, a design team based in Minneapolis, will talk about their work. Their impressive list of clients includes American Eagle, Hallmark, and Wolfgang Puck. Afterward, the members will be treated to an ice cream social to celebrate the seniors and their upcoming graduation.
