On Friday, April 26, SCAD hosted a block party at Madison square to kick off the anniversary celebration. As part of SCAD40 WKND festivities, guests enjoyed an array of refreshments, performances and sidewalk art. Music and unique installations outside Poetter hall added to the vibrant atmosphere.

Shortly after the block party, select guests experienced the highly anticipated 360-degree journey that showcased SCAD’s 40-year history. Today, the university unveiled the renovations at Poetter hall to the public. Designed by former Disney Imagineers, the exhibition guides visitors through the progression of the university’s growth from 71 to 15,000 students, from eight degree programs to more than 100.

According to Paula Wallace, founder of SCAD, Alumni were instrumental in the development of the university: “On this special occasion, I humbly thank all who have built SCAD over the years, especially SCAD alumni who chose SCAD for their education and who bring immeasurable joy and light to the world through their creative professions. They have proved that SCAD is a place to belong, to invent and to flourish.”

Anyone can attend the tour for free, and tours can be scheduled at scadstory.com.
