Ben Elhav, a third-year dramatic writing student, sat down with us for our most recent episode of “Bookmarked and Dogeared” to discuss his work in an array of writing fields including screenwriting, journalism and poetry. He was also published in District’s first issue of Square 95 with a piece entitled “Crossed Words.”
“I would say process is crucially important to everything I do,” Elhav said. “I don’t try to create a story, I don’t look for imagery before I have settled on a theme. I don’t allow myself to write without a theme, without a question, without an idea, without an argument. I view story as a message machine; story is a vehicle for a theme to be advanced.”
Elhav expands on the process behind his writing and how he has changed as an artist since coming to SCAD.
Check back again Sunday, April 24 for the tenth episode of “Bookmarked and Dogeared.”
“Bookmarked and Dogeared” is District’s award-winning podcast about storytellers from across a variety of majors at SCAD and professional fields. We want to give up-and-coming creatives the chance to share their stories, give their perspectives and discuss what they’ve learned through their creative journeys.
If you have a creative storyteller who you think would be a great guest for the podcast, reach out to copy@scaddistrict.com.
