From animating to directing, Brad Schiff is no stranger to creating films. Working on eerie films such as “Corpse Bride” and “Coraline,” Schiff continues to tests the limits of stop motion. In his latest film, “Missing Link,” Schiff pursued his toughest project yet. Schiff arrived on Saturday to walk the pink carpet with the “little avocado with a face” who can be seen on the big screen starring as “Mr. Link.”

Schiff, animation supervisor, sat down yesterday to discuss the behind the scenes of Laika Studios making of this visually stunning film. With over 90 different sets used to create this film, Schiff describes the immense amount of detail involved in creating this three year long project. “Missing Link” uses a blend of multiple mediums of animation combined with stop-motion to create a new cinematic experience that viewers have never seen before. “We’re doing things different at Laika. We’re combining bespoke craftsmanship and advanced technology to create worlds that no one has ever seen before,” Schiff said.

The studio’s animation creation leads viewers through a story with a lonely, endangered Sasquatch, Mr. Link, while he’s on the hunt for a new family. Alongside the fearless explorer are Sir Lionel Frost and his quick-witted ex-girlfriend, Adeline Fortnight. Although the stop motion may be seamless, Mr. Link’s journey does not go without bumps and challenges.
