Bees Play Home
A number of sporting events will be taking place this week. Volleyball will play Florida Memorial University Oct. 3 at 5 p.m., Edward Waters Oct. 8 at 6 p.m., and Embry-Riddle Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., all of which are conference games held at the St. Paul’s Activity Center. Men’s soccer plays Embry-Riddle University Oct. 4 at 7 p.m., Northwood University Oct. 11 at 5 p.m., and Johnson & Wales University, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m, all of which are conference games and are held at the SCAD Athletic Facility. Women’s soccer plays Northwood University in a conference game Oct. 11 at 2p.m. at the SCAD Athletic facility. Men and women’s swimming will hold an Intrasquad Pentathlon at 10 a.m. at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.

Two presidential debates remain
The next debate between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama will be held Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville. It will be in a town hall format, moderated by Tom Brokaw. Each candidate will have 2 min. to respond to questions from the audience and from the internet. The last debate will be held Oct. 15 at Ofstra Univeristy in Hempstead, NY. It will be a sit-down debate moderated by Bob Schieffer and will focus on domestic and economic issues, with the same answer format as the first debate. Both debates will take place at 9 p.m.

Gallery Hop features Danny Simmons
Def Jam poet, author, philanthropist and painter, Danny Simmons will be at the Pinnacle Gallery at 320 E. Liberty St., Oct. 10, from 5-7 p.m. for the reception of the opening of his exhibition. He will be signing books from 5-6 p.m. The exhibition “Spiritual Rhythms” will be on display Oct. 10-Dec. 12. It is inspired by African spiritual energy and imagery, and is comprised of abstract expressionistic work. The paintings are new or done within the last five years, and “side by side, these abstract expressionistic works reveal pattern shifts while maintaining a familiar visual language.”
