Early voting begins

Early voting started yesterday and will continue until Friday. Those wanting to vote early may go to one of four locations in Chatham County listed below. Voters will need to bring a valid photo ID; Georgia driver’s license, any valid state or federal government ID, a U.S. passport, a military ID or a tribal ID. A free voter ID can be issued at the registrar’s office or at the Department of Driver Services.

Desegregation lecture series

The City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs and the Telfair Museum of Art will present the Desegregation Panel Series Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Telfair’s Jepson Center for the Arts. Moderated by Dr. Charles J. Elmore, the panel on the Oct. 30 lecture will consist of the Honorable Otis S. Johnson, Representative Tom Bordeauz, Sage Brown, Pam Oglesby, Dorothy Courington and Dr. Martha Keber. Their discussion will coincide with the Telfair exhibition, “Freedom’s March: Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement in Savannah by Frederick C. Baldwin.” The Nov. 6 lecture will feature Marion Harrison, Jr., James Jackson, Williams Jackson and Dr. Martha Keber. It will focus on the role of the individual in re-shaping Savannah’s business sector for the consumer and the worker.
