The Casino Royale Beaux Arts Ball, hosted by building arts students and sponsored by Hansen Architects, provided an evening of food, drinks and dancing for SCAD students, faculty and members of the community on Friday, Feb. 6.

“The event is really nice because we can spend time with our friends and teachers at the same time,” said second-year architecture major Lara Fischer from Paris, France. “I feel like the whole SCAD community is here together, teachers included. I even got a picture with one of them!”

From the start to the end of the evening, a variation of music from Latin to American hip-hop throwbacks blared from the dance floor to the sidewalk outside, where many guests stepped out to socialize.

For a $30 cover, attendees received endless Zunzi’s catering, multiple dance floors and an excuse to dress in their nicest attire. The majority of female guests wore dresses and high heels, while their male counterparts wore their shined shoes and bow ties.

“I felt it was overpriced, and when we got there, there wasn’t any Zunzi’s left for us to eat. Although, over all, the night was fun,” said second-year film major and sound design minor Paloma Lopez from Caracas, Venezuela.

Professional photographers roamed the venue, documenting the event with both images and video. At least one security guard was visible at all times, enabling the guests to feel protected.

“It was a lot better than I expected it to be, being able to mingle with all my friends. I’m really enjoying where I’m at so far. I feel very at home,” said transfer student, and second-quarter industrial design major Ace Hayden from Carrollton, Georgia.
