If starting up classes again didn’t jostle you from your holiday stupor then the Winter Fest chili cook-off will add some spice to your first days back in Savannah.
“We have 11 vendors who are from the community and they’re all on the SCAD cash system and they’re going to come in and give their own rendition of their best chili,” said one of the event’s coordinators, Adrienne Edge, assistant director of Student Involvement.
“Every participant will get a little poker chip and they can drop that into the bowl of the vendor they want to vote for.”
Cale Hall, president at Creative Approach, looks forward to the opportunity to market their company and half-jokingly boasted about his recipe.
“I have my own, it’s tried and true,” Hall said. “It stays with you a few days … make sure there’s a beverage available.”
Primary Art Supply is taking a different, less home-cooked approach. A chef at Avia will prepare Primary’s contending chili: a secret vegan recipe.
“We commissioned him to help us,” Tommy Fullmer, a manager at Primary, said in a phone interview.
The top three vendors will receive a certificate to display in their place of business.
However, if chili isn’t your thing then the event also offers other activities including intramural sports, a volleyball tournament, board games, energy massages, a drum talk circle and carnival style games. Student clubs will also be in attendance.
