August 18

10 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from her off campus apartment. The student stated that she left the bike “jammed” between the AC unit and her stairs on the day before noon and she noticed it missing the next morning at 10 a.m. Savannah- Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

 

8 p.m. — Sonitrol notified security of a false audio alarm at Kiah Hall. Sonitrol indicated previous trouble with this alarm in the past few weeks and wanted to disable it for the night until it could be repaired. Extra patrols were ordered for the building through the overnight hours.

 

August 19

5:52 a.m. — Sonitrol notified security of a “trouble” alarm at Boundary Village but they were unable to give an exact location. Security responded to the scene but the alarm reset itself prior to their arrival.

12:30 p.m. — Security responded to a “fire door” alarm activation at Alexander Hall.  Security secured the door.

10:02 p.m. — A SCAD professor reported to security that the door magnet at Hamilton Hall had fallen while he was exiting the building. The magnet struck the glass of the door causing it to crack. Security secured the door by key and placed the item on the maintenance log.

 

11:27 p.m. — Security received a call from a student requesting to speak with the on-call counselor. Security contacted the counselor and gave them the students name and contact number.

August 20

1:29 a/m. — Security found the front door of Crites Hall unsecured. A patrol of the building was conducted and then security secured the door.

 

5:57 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Boundary Village. A patrol of the area was conducted and all pull stations were found to be intact. The alarm restored itself a short time later.

10:50 a.m. — A SCAD employee reported to security that several small items had been taken from her desk over the past few months. The employee did not wish to file a police report.

 

8:15 p.m. — Security responded to a fire alarm at River Club. Security was made aware of the alarm when they observed fire trucks arriving at River Club. Dispatch did not receive a call from the alarm monitoring company. Upon investigation it was determined that a member of the janitorial staff accidentally activated a pull station. The alarm was silenced and reset.

 

11:21 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Anderson Hall. The alarm reset itself prior to security arriving at the building.

 

August 21

5: p.m. — Security responded to an elevator entrapment at Gulfstream center. The elevator occupants had been able to exit the elevator prior to security’s arrival.

8:10 p.m. — Security discovered the chain link gate on the A side of Abercorn Terrace had fallen down. A Carson Construction employee fixed the fence at 10 p.m.

August 22

2:19 a.m. — Security discovered unsecured doors at Abercorn Terrace. Security was not able to secure the doors. A work order was placed with maintenance.

4:51 a.m. — Security received a call from a former student requesting to talk to an on-call counselor regarding her scholarship and fall enrollment. When the individual stated that it was not an emergency, she was asked to call back during business hours.
