No activity reported.

August 6
5:18 a.m. — Security responded to a phone line malfunction alarm at Kiah Hall. The alarm reset itself prior to security’s arrival. A patrol of the exterior of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

9:05 p.m. — Security responded to an “audio activation” alarm at Kiah Hall. A Sonitrol operator believed that the alarm might have been caused by a TV being left on. The alarm reset itself prior to security’s arrival. A patrol of the exterior of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

11:05 p.m. — Security responded to a “low battery” alarm at Boundary Hall. Security silenced the alarm and the system immediately reset itself. The alarm activated immediately after a power surge caused by a passing thunderstorm. A patrol of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

11:36 p.m. — Security responded to a “wing pull missing” alarm at Oglethorpe House. Security silenced the alarm and the system immediately reset itself. The alarm activated immediately after a power surge caused by a passing thunderstorm. A patrol of the second floor confirmed that all pull stations were intact and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

August 7
2:07 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble: phone lines” alarm at Magnolia House. Security silenced and reset the alarm and the system returned to normal status.

7:08 p.m. — Sonitrol notified security of an alarm activation at Poetter Hall. Security responded to the building and found the system at normal status. Sonitrol was notified of the discrepancy.

August 8
2:38 a.m. — Security responded to a malfunctioning smoke detector alarm at Weston House. A resident advisor stated that the alarm had been going off for some time and that she had removed the unit from the wall and removed the battery. The detector was placed on the maintenance list for battery replacement.

5 a.m. — Security responded to a “smoke detector” alarm at Morris Hall. A patrol of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered. The alarm restored itself.

August 12
6:15 a.m. — Security responded to “trouble” alarm at Poetter Hall. A patrol was conducted of the building and the alarm was silenced and reset.

6:21 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Hamilton annex. An exterior patrol was conducted and the building was found to be secured. The alarm was placed on the maintenance log.

5:33 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that she believed her purse had been taken from her unsecured vehicle at the Liberty parking lot. The student stated she parked the vehicle on Aug. 6 and did not realize the purse was missing until her credit card fraud department called her on Aug. 7. She filed a report with Savannah-Chatham Metro Police but decided to call SCAD security because of the possibility that the theft occurred on SCAD property.

August 13
1:34 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Weston House. The alarm was silenced and reset. A patrol of the area was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was found.

9:30 a.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident at 31st and Drayton Streets involving a SCAD maintenance vehicle and a non-SCAD vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report number.

1:30 p.m. — A Gryphon Tea Room employee reported to security that she had found a gun laying on the ground by the Dumpster outside Poetter Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and took possession of the gun. The police issued a crime report number.

8:20 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Abercorn Terrace. Sonitrol was notified and indicated that the alarm was malfunctioning and the alarm restored itself.

August 14
12:09 a.m. — Sonitrol notified security that the battery in the smoke detector at Kiah Hall was dead and causing the alarm to malfunction. Sonitrol requested that the building alarm be disabled until repairs could be made in the morning. A security fire patrol was ordered until Sonitrol could repair the alarm.

2:15 a.m. — Security was approached by a non-SCAD individual at the Weston/Dyson gate. The man appeared to be disoriented and intoxicated and was requesting a ride. Although security offered to call a cab for him, he became argumentative and kept attempting to enter the security vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police arrested the subject and banned him from all SCAD buildings. Police issued a crime report number.

August 15
12:50 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the back porch of her off-campus residence. The student stated she had last seen the bike locked to the porch at 10 a.m. the day before. She noticed it missing 24 hours later. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report number.

4:20 p.m. — Sonitrol notified security of a “trouble” alarm activation at Oglethorpe House. Upon arrival at the scene, the alarm panel indicated that systems were normal. A patrol of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.
