College Security Report: Dec. 3-Dec. 25, 2008

Dec. 3

3:14 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation in a room in Boundary Hall. Security determined that the alarm was caused by a janitorial services employee accidentally pulling a fire pull station.

Dec. 4

8:16 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Turner House. Security determined that the alarm was caused by janitorial services employees in the building cleaning, causing dust to set off a smoke detector. Security reset the alarm.

8:35 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Turner House. Security determined the alarm was caused by maintenance workers working in the building. Security reset the alarm.

1:46 p.m.— Security responded to trouble alarm activation at Boundary Village. The alarm company was notified of the trouble alarm and the system was reset.

9:27 p.m.— Security discovered the Recycling Center door at Arnold Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the area and secured the door.

Dec. 5

8:30 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Boundary Hall. Security determined the alarm was caused by janitorial services employees cleaning in the area, and reset the system.

Dec. 6

4:12 a.m.— Security discovered an unsecured door at Boundary Hall. Security conducted a patrol of the area, and then secured the door.

9:14 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Eckburg Hall. Security determined that the alarm was false and reset the system.

Dec. 10

12:35 a.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident at Barnard and Henry streets involving a SCAD vehicle and a non-SCAD vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and issued a report. Pictures were taken of the damaged vehicles.

8:38 p.m.— Security discovered the rear fire door to Gulfstream to be unsecured. Security performed a patrol of the building and secured the door.

Dec. 11

1:36 a.m.— Security discovered the front door to the Granite Steps to be unsecured. Security performed a patrol of the building and secured the door.

Dec. 12

3:15 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Hamilton Hall. A SCAD staff member was walking through the Hamilton Hall parking lot when she tripped on a parking space barrier and fell to the ground. EMS responded to the scene and transported the staff member to the Memorial University Medical Center.

Dec. 13

11:55 a.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm activation at Eckburg Hall. Security notified the alarm company of the incident and reset the alarm.

12:35 p.m.— Security responded to a call box alarm activation at Arnold Hall. Security responded to the scene and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Dec. 14

3:51 a.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm activation at Poetter Hall. The alarm company was notified, and the system was reset.

4:39 a.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm activation at Eichberg Hall. The alarm company was notified, and the system was reset.

7:07 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Habersham Hall. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.

11:47 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.

2:17 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Eckburg Hall. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.

3:40 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at York Hall. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.

Dec. 15

9:01 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Propes Hall. Security determined the alarm was caused by an electrical maintenance worker. The system was reset.

12:04 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.

5:45 p.m.—Security discovered the gate to Habersham Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the area, and secured the gate.

Dec. 16

11:53 a.m.— Security responded to Barnard Village for panel alarms activated in multiple rooms. All alarms were silenced.

12:15 p.m.— Security responded to Hamilton Hall in reference to a vehicle accident. Security found that a man had backed his Volkswagen GTI into a telephone pole in the Hamilton Hall parking lot.

Dec. 17

7:39 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Propes Hall. Security determined the alarm was caused by a staff member using the wrong code. The system was reset.

3:16 p.m.— Security responded to a fire door alarm activation at Weston House. Security determined that a janitorial services employee had caused the alarm by exiting through the fire door.

Dec. 18

12:01 a.m.— Security discovered a side door to Gulfstream to be unsecured. Security patrolled the area and secured the door.

3:07 a.m.— Security discovered the back door to Red Gallery to be unsecured. Security patrolled the area and secured the door.

6:33 a.m.— Security discovered an exterior storeroom door at Morris Hall to be unsecured. Extra patrols of the area were conducted until the door was able to be secured by maintenance in the morning.

1:56 p.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation multiple rooms in Boundary Village. Security determined the alarm was false, and the system was reset.

2:28 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Pulaski House. Security determined the alarm was caused by a janitorial services employee accidentally spraying cleaner into a pull station. Maintenance was already on site prior to security’s arrival, and had already reset the system.

3:18 p.m.— Security responded to a call from ShopSCAD regarding a suspicious person in the store. Security responded to the scene, but the person had already departed. The ShopSCAD employee said the person just made her feel funny.

8:28 p.m.— Security discovered the gates to the athletic complex at the Equestrian Center to be unsecured. Security patrolled the area, and secured the gates.

Dec. 19

2:30 p.m.— Security responded to Alexander Hall in reference to securing a fire door. Upon attempt to lock the door, the lock fell out of the door. A locksmith was contacted, and the door was secured.

Dec. 22

7:15 a.m.— Security responded to Barnard Village to panel alarms in multiple rooms. All alarms were silenced, and the Savannah Fire Department was not contacted.
