College Security Report: Feb. 17-23

Feb. 17

7:31 p.m.— A SCAD student called dispatch asking to speak with an on-call counselor. Dispatch contacted the counselor and transferred the student to the number.

Feb. 18

1:33 a.m.— Security discovered the main doors to Bergen Hall were unsecured. Security conducted a foot patrol of the building and secured the doors.

7:45 a.m.— A SCAD student notified security that he had fallen while bicycling, injuring both hands and bruising his face. He stated that he did not need EMS and that he was going to walk to the SCAD Clinic.

12:17 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Gulfstream. A SCAD student stated that he had cut his middle finger on his left hand while working on a school project. He stated that he did not need EMS and that he would prefer if a classmate would take him to the hospital.

6 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had stolen her wallet from the Costume Room at Crites Hall. She stated that she had last seen her wallet at before rehearsal when she left it in the costume room. The wallet was gone when she returned to the room at 6 p.m. The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and issued a report.

8:50 p.m.— A SCAD professor reported to security that he was concerned about a SCAD student who had just left class and left all of her personal belongings except for her cell phone. The professor believed that the student might be upset. Fifteen minutes later, the student returned to Norris Hall and stated that she was not upset at all and did not need any assistance.

Feb. 19

12:42 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at room a room in Barnard Village. Security determined that the alarm was false and the system was silenced and reset.

10:38 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that he had been struck by a white Honda while riding his bicycle. He could not give a further description of the vehicle and was not sure where the accident occurred. He stated that he was uninjured and did not want EMS or police response.

10:40 a.m.— Security refused entry to a non-SCAD individual who would not sign the proper library entry paperwork or show ID. Moments later a man from Savannah Lodging entered the lobby of the library after having an argument with the same non-SCAD individual regarding a laptop that may have been stolen from his building. The man from Savannah Lodging contacted the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, who responded to scene outside of the library. The non-SCAD individual was barred from the library, and the police issued a report.

Feb. 20

8:03 a.m.— SCAD security responded to Keys Hall and discovered graffiti. Pictures were taken of the property damage, and a police report was filed.

12:55 p.m.— SCAD security responded to Montgomery Hall in reference to a vehicle accident. No injuries were reported, and a police report was filed.

Feb. 21

6:01 a.m.— SCAD security discovered a soda vending machine covered in graffiti at Dyson House. Pictures were taken of the property damage.

4:32 p.m.— SCAD security responded to Crites Hall in reference to a fire door alarm being activated. The door was locked and no one was in the room.

Feb. 22

1:30 a.m.— SCAD security responded to an anonymous report of a group of people outside the Dyson House labs asking female students for sexual favors. Security checked the area and could not locate any suspects. The area was given extra patrol.

3:15 a.m.— SCAD security responded to a Dyson House room in reference to a SCAD student being sick. The student was transported to Candler Hospital for suspected alcohol poisoning.

Feb. 23

9:06 a.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident at Boundary Village. A SCAD student had knocked the arm off of the Boundary Village gate while leaving the facility. He was driving a rented U-Haul truck. The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and issued a report.

4:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Club SCAD. He stated that he had locked the bike to the rack at 2:20 p.m. and that the bike was gone when he returned at 4:30 p.m. He notified the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department of the incident and was issued a report.
