College security report: Jan. 1-8, 2012

Jan. 2
2:57 a.m.— Security discovered the front door to Keys Hall was unsecured. A patrol of the building was conducted and security secured the door.
1:10 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his dorm at Barnard Village had been broken into during winter break. A television, video game console and a deck of cards were missing from the room. The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) responded to the scene and issued a report.
3:20 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Barnard Village involving a student who was suffering from abdominal pains. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to the hospital.
Jan. 3
1:24 a.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at Hamilton Annex. A patrol of the facility was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.
1:32 a.m.— Security was contacted by the Washington County Sherriff’s Department in Minnesota regarding a student who had been making terroristic threats toward another individual. Security contacted the on-call manager and passed on the sheriff’s department contact information.
10:20 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her dorm at Barnard Village had been broken into during the winter break. An iPod docking station was missing from the room. SCMPD responded to the scene and a report.
2:32 p.m.— A SCAD student at Turner House reported to security that her bicycle had been stolen. The student stated that she had last seen the bike in possession of her roommate on Oct. 27. SCMPD responded to the scene and issued a report.
3:32 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his dorm at Barnard Village had been broken into during the winter break. A video game console was missing from his room and a 22-inch television was missing from his roommate’s room. SCMPD responded to the scene and issued a report.
Jan. 4
3:38 a.m.— Security responded to a smoke alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. The alarm was false and was reset.
2:15 p.m.— Two residence directors requested security at a room in Weston House in reference to a policy violation. Both RDs conducted an inspection of the room and discovered a pellet gun. The pellet gun was confiscated.
Jan. 5
3:53 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at a room in Turner Annex in reference to a student that was not feeling well. A residence director arranged for a cab to transport the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
6:59 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm at Physical Resources. The item was placed on the maintenance list.
10:58 p.m.— A residence director requested security response to Turner Annex to assist with an intoxicated student. SCMPD was contacted and responded to the scene after the student became unruly and combative. The RD was able to convince the student to return to his room.
Jan. 6
12:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from his off-campus residence sometime between Dec. 20 and Dec. 26. SCMPD responded to the scene and issued a report.
2:55 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from her off-campus residence between Nov. 17 and Jan. 2. SCMPD responded to the scene and issued a report.
3:57 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Zubly Street involving a SCAD student who had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center. SCMPD responded to the scene and issued a report.
6 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his laptop was missing from the common room of Boundary Village. The student stated that he had accidentally left the laptop in the common room overnight and that it was missing when he returned to the common room in the morning. SCMPD responded to the scene and issued a report.
6:20 p.m.— Security responded to a room in Barnard Village in reference to a student who believed that she had broken her toe. The student was transported to UrgentOne by a roommate.
8:12 p.m.— Security responded to a room in Dyson House in reference to a student who tripped and injured her arm. The student stated that she did not want EMS response and that a roommate would take her to UrgentOne in the morning.
8:21 p.m.— Security received a call from a concerned parent regarding her daughter who was homesick and upset. Security contacted the residence director and passed on the parents’ contact information. The RD stated that they would send a resident assistant to check on the student.
8:40 p.m.— Security responded to a fire alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. The alarm was caused by a student cooking in the room. The alarm was silenced and reset.
10:52 p.m.— Security discovered a non-SCAD individual lying in front of Gulfstream. The individual stated that he was having severe stomach pains and wanted EMS attention. EMS responded to the scene and transported the individual to Candler Hospital.
11:43 p.m.— SCMPD requested that SCAD security respond to an off-campus location at 509 W. 37th St. SCMPD stated that they had just broken up a house party and that they would arrest any SCAD students who were not picked up. Security Safe Ride transported 12 students back to campus.
Jan. 7
1:07 a.m.— Security witnessed four females discharge a fire extinguisher on the Old Arch bridge. The individuals ran from the scene when they noticed security.
1:40 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Boundary Village involving a student who had jumped out of the window of his third floor dorm. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to the hospital.
1:20 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that she had lost her wallet at an off-campus location sometime between 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. The student did not wish to file a police report.
6:36 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Bergen Hall involving a student who had cut his hand while unlocking his bike. EMS responded to the scene and provided first aid.
7:15 p.m.— Security discovered the main entrance to the Gryphon Tea Room was unsecured. A patrol of the building was completed and the door was secured.
9:35 p.m.— Security discovered sewage coming from a manhole and running into the canal near Dyson House. The city sewage department and maintenance were notified.
11:50 p.m.— Security received a call from a student stating that she had not seen her roommate in 24 hours and was concerned. Security contacted the residence director and determined that the missing student had been hanging out with a male student the previous night. The RD checked the male student’s room and found the missing female student inside. The student was instructed to return to her dorm.
Jan. 8
6 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at a room in Dyson House involving a student who was suffering from abdominal pain. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
2:15 p.m.— Security stopped a student at the security booth of Turner House who was attempting to enter using another student’s ID. Security explained the access policy to the student and allowed her to enter after confirming that she was a student.
10:41 p.m.— Security discovered a bottom level door to Pulaski House was unsecured. Security conducted a patrol of the building and secured the door.
