College Security Report: Jan. 26-28, 2009
Jan. 26
5:17 a.m. — Security discovered the main door to Trustees Theatre was unsecured. Security conducted a patrol of the building and secured the door.
12:28 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Physical Resources. A SCAD staff member had suffered a seizure and was being attended to by EMS. She was transported to Memorial Hospital.
11:37 p.m. — A man requested entry to Turner House to check on his girlfriend, a SCAD student. The man said that she had sent him a text message at 9:57 p.m. that stated, “I am super depressed and want to take a whole bottle of Nyquil and never wake up.” Security immediately contacted the resident assistant to check on the student. At 12:51 a.m. the resident assistant informed security that the student was doing well and that no further action was required.
Jan. 27
3:15 p.m. — A SCAD staff member reported to security that her vehicle had been damaged in the Montgomery Hall parking lot. She stated that her front bumper was detached from her car by a metal rod sticking out of the concrete parking barrier as she backed her car out of the parking spot. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene, but did not complete a report.
8:33 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Oglethorpe House. A SCAD student had sustained a cut to her left finger while working on a project. EMS responded to the scene and suggested that the student get a tetanus shot sometime the next day. The student was not transported to the hospital.
Jan. 28
5:02 a.m. — Security discovered the gate to the Equestrian Center was unsecured. Security patrolled the area and secured the gate.
6:50 a.m. — Security responded to a call box activation at the Old Arch. Security determined that some kids had pushed the button and left the scene.
11:41 a.m. — Security discovered graffiti in the front elevator of Oglethorpe House. Security took pictures of the damage.
12:27 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Eckburg Hall. A SCAD student had passed out. EMS responded to the scene and determined that the student did not need to be transported to the hospital.
4:27 p.m. — Security discovered a fire door at Alexander Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the area and secured the door.
5:40 p.m. — Security responded to a call box activation at the Old Arch. Security determined that the alarm was a tamper alarm. The alarm company was notified of the problem and stated that they would send a tech out in the morning.
8:14 p.m. — Security was notified of a motor vehicle accident on Montgomery and 51st streets involving a SCAD student and a non-SCAD individual. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and issued a report. No injuries were reported.
11:01 p.m. — A resident assistant notified security that he had observed a man asking for cigarettes and money in front of Oglethorpe House. Security responded to the area and was unable to locate the man. Extra patrols were assigned to the area.
