College security report: Jan. 9-23, 2012

No activity was reported.
Jan. 10
11:34 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that three dogs had chased him in the Gulfstream parking lot at 1 a.m., causing him to fall from his bike and strike his face on the ground. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to Gulfstream and issued a report.
11:04 a.m. — Security discovered the double fire doors at Wallin Hall were unsecured. Security secured the doors.
10:10 p.m. — Security observed several students running from the Turner bridge area of Weston House after starting a small fire on the steps. Security extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher.
Jan. 11
8:22 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Anderson Hall involving a student complaining of chest pains. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Candler Hospital.
9:10 a.m. — Security discovered the maintenance shed door at Fahm Hall was unsecured. Security secured the doors.
11:16 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at an off-campus location near Crites Hall involving a student that had tripped over a city sign post. The student stated that he did not need medical treatment.
12:20 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Eichberg Hall involving a student that was having a panic attack. EMS responded to the scene, but the student refused to be transported. A friend responded to the scene to drive the student home.
5:36 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her vehicle had been struck while it was parked at Weston House. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene, but did not issue a report since the vehicle had been moved prior to the police being notified.
6:16 p.m. — Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police notified security that they had discovered an off-campus student had left the garage door and front door of her residence unsecured. Security was able to locate the student and notified her that her doors were unsecured.
Jan. 12
11:15 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Turner House involving a student stating that she had pneumonia. The residence director arrange for Yellow Cab to transport the student to the hospital.
4:35 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Boundary Village involving a student that was having a seizure. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined to be transported.
10:56 p.m. — Security responded to Gulfstream Center in reference to a SCAD student that had locked his bike to the handicapped ramp. When asked to move the bike to the bike racks, the student became verbally aggressive. The student eventually moved the bike after being asked to move the bike a second time.
Jan. 13
9:10 a.m. — Security responded to fight between roommates at Barnard Village. The residence director was notified and handled the situation.
12:37 p.m. — Security responded to an off-campus vehicle accident involving two SCAD students. There were no injuries. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.
4:23 p.m. — Security responded to a property damage call on Boundary Street. A vehicle that had been damaged when the SCAD groundskeepers kicked up a rock which then struck the vehicle’s windshield.
Jan. 14
6:35 p.m. — Security discovered the door to the storage unit at Bobbie’s Diner was unsecured. Sodexho was notified and responded to the scene to secure the door.
Jan. 15
3:36 a.m. — Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police requested SCAD security to respond to an off-campus party on East Duffy Street. SCMPD requested that security transport several underage students that had been consuming alcohol to their on-campus residence.
Jan. 16
No activity was reported.
Jan. 17
6:20 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Boundary Village involving a student that had suffered a seizure. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
7:05 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her car had been damaged while it was parked at Eichberg Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.
7:45 p.m. — Security responded to fire alarm activation at Pulaski House. The alarm had been caused by a student cooking in the dorm. Security silenced and reset the alarm.
9:56 p.m. — Security responded to fire alarm activation at Barnard Village. The alarm had been caused by a small fire in the microwave. Security unplugged the microwave and reset the alarm.
Jan. 18
9:00 a.m. — Security responded to a trouble alarm at Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was caused by a low battery and the item was placed on the maintenance work order list.
9:13 a.m — Security responded to an elevator entrapment at Turner House involving one student stuck between the first and second floors. Atlantic Coast Elevator was on scene at 9:15 a.m. and the elevator was repaired.
10:53 a.m. — Security responded to a fire door alarm activation on the second floor of Habersham Hall. The door was silenced and secured by security.
11:03 a.m. — Security observed an off-campus vehicle accident at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Gwinnett Street involving a SCAD student and a non-SCAD driver. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.
3:40 p.m. — Security responded to multiple trouble alarms at Abercorn Terrace. The alarms were false and a work order was submitted to have the system checked.
6:15 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her laptop power cord was missing from the third floor of Jen Library. The student stated that she had left her laptop unattended for 15 minutes and that the power cord was missing when she returned. The student did not wish to file a police report.
11 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from Crites Hall between 9 – 11 p.m. The student did not wish to file a police report.
Jan. 19
No activity was reported.
Jan. 20
10:46 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that someone had written curse words on his vehicle with shaving cream at Barnard Village. The student did not wish to file a police report.
10:33 p.m. — Security received a call from a SCAD student stating that she would like to speak with an on-call counselor regarding an abusive boyfriend. The dispatched contacted the counselor and passed along the student’s contact information.
11:47 p.m. — Security discovered the rear stage entrance to Trustees Theater was unsecured. A patrol of the facility was conducted and the door was secured.
Jan. 21
1:39 a.m. — Security stopped a SCAD student from entering Turner House with a SCAD ID belonging to another student. The resident assistant responded to the scene and confirmed that the student lived at Turner.
10:45 p.m. — A residence director requested security to respond to a room in Turner House in reference to a possible drug/alcohol policy violation. The RD stated that she had smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the room. A search of the room uncovered one glass pipe, one bottle of rum and one bottle of wine. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene at the request of the RD and issued citations of underage consumption for all three dorm occupants.
Jan. 22
4:30 a.m. — Security responded to a noise complaint at a room in Turner House. Upon arrival, the occupant of the room complained that a SCAD student was intoxicated and had a male student in her room. A search of the room produced a bottle of wine. The resident assistant asked the students to pour the wine down the sink and dispose of the bottle. The male student was asked to return to his room.
Jan. 23
2:57 a.m. — Security responded to a trouble alarm at Boundary Village. The alarm was false and was reset.
5:08 a.m. — Security responded to a smoke detector alarm at Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was false and was reset.
1:50 p.m. — Security responded to medical call at the Clarence Thomas Center involving a SCAD student that had tripped and fallen on the stairs. The student did not want medical attention.
1:58 p.m. — Security responded to medical call at Hamilton Hall involving a student that had been struck by a student riding a bicycle. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
5:30 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that a pocket tool and an Xbox controller were missing from his dorm when he returned from winter break. The student did not wish to file a police report.
11:53 p.m. — Security discovered the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard gate to the SCAD Museum courtyard was unsecured, and secured the door.
