College Security Report: March 12-27, 2012

March 12

12:31 a.m. — Security responded to the report of a drug policy violation at a room in Turner House. The residence director questioned the students who then produced two bongs, but stated that there was no marijuana in the room. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and confiscated the bongs.

10:10 a.m. — Security responded to an off-campus hit-and-run vehicle accident involving a SCAD electrician. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

6:20 p.m. — Security discovered a door to Kiah Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and secured the door.

7:10 p.m. — Security responded to a fire alarm at a room in Boundary Village. A kitchen grease fire was confirmed and the students were evacuated from the room. The Savannah Fire Department was dispatched and the fire was extinguished with minimal fire damage. There were no injuries reported.

March 13

4:30 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Turner House involving a student who had fallen and struck his head. The residence director responded to the scene and, after speaking with the SCAD clinic, allowed the student to return to his dorm to rest.

March 14

3:12 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from Oglethorpe House between Feb. 27 and 29. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

4:34 p.m. — Security responded to a smoke detector battery alarm at room a room in Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was silenced and reset.

5:50 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that he had accidentally left his laptop on top of his car when he left Oglethorpe House en route to the airport. Security could not find the laptop anywhere in the Oglethorpe lot. The student did not wish to file a police report.

11:06 p.m. — Security observed an unknown man loitering near the bike racks at Wallin Hall. The man departed the scene when he noticed security. When security checked the bike racks, one of the bikes was unsecured. Security notified the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police of the incident and transported the unsecured bike to dispatch.

March 15

1:13 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call involving an ABM janitorial services worker who had fallen off of a chair she had been standing on while cleaning in Montgomery Hall. EMS responded to the scene and transported the worker to Memorial University Medical Center.

8:49 a.m. — Security responded to a ground fault trouble alarm at the Weston/Dyson booth. The alarm was silenced and reset. The item was placed on the maintenance log.

12:44 p.m. — Security was notified that the access control system at Forsyth House was not functioning properly. Stanley Alarm Systems was notified and responded to the scene to make repairs.

1:30 p.m. — Security responded to a room in Dyson House in reference to a possible drug policy violation. The residence director checked the room and no drugs were found on site. However, the smoke detector had been covered with electrical tape and the shower-head in the bathroom had been removed.

3:29 p.m. — Security responded to a trouble alarm at a room in Abercorn Terrace. The alarm had restored itself prior to security’s arrival.

3:35 p.m. — Security responded to a ground fault trouble alarm at the Weston/Dyson booth. The alarm was silenced and reset. The item was placed on the maintenance log.

4:40 p.m. — Security responded to a smoke alarm activation at a room in Boundary Village. The alarm had been caused by a student cooking in the room. The alarm was silenced, but was unable to be reset. Stanley Alarm Systems responded to the scene to resolve the issue.

10:28 p.m. — Security discovered the main door to Keys Hall was unsecured. A patrol of the building was completed and the door was secured.

March 16

9:20 a.m. — Security discovered vandalism damage to one of the AlliedBarton cars.

9:20 a.m. — Security discovered graffiti damage on the Turner Bridge and on the second floor of Turner House. Maintenance was notified of the damage.

10:15 a.m. — Security discovered six fire extinguishers and a trash can that had been thrown over a railing at Turner House. Several of the fire extinguisher stations and pull stations had also been damaged.

9:40 p.m. — Security discovered the main entrance at Keys Hall was unsecured. Security completed a patrol of the building and secured the door.

11:11 p.m. — Security responded to a call box alarm activation at Arnold Hall. The alarm was determined to be false and was reset.

March 17

12:41 a.m. — Security responded to a room in Weston House in reference to an alcohol policy violation. The resident assistant had found an almost full case of beer in the room. The alcohol was disposed of by the students at the request of the resident assistant.

1:22 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Bradley Hall involving a student who had fallen near River Street, injuring his ribs. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

March 18

9:19 a.m. — Security discovered graffiti damage on the front entrance of Club SCAD. Maintenance was notified of the damage.

7:34 p.m. — Security responded to a call box activation at Eckburg Hall. The alarm was determined to be false and was reset.

10:30 p.m. — Security discovered graffiti damage near the back elevator of Turner House. Maintenance was notified of the damage.

March 19

10 a.m. — Security responded to a report of graffiti vandalism at Turner House. Pictures were taken of the damage and maintenance was notified.

9:49 p.m. — Security responded to a call box activation at Arnold Hall. The alarm was determined to be false and was reset.

March 20

No activity was reported.

March 21

9:46 a.m. — Security responded to a fire alarm activation at Pulaski House. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene and determined that the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the dorm. The alarm was silenced and reset.

11:46 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at SCAD Café involving a student who was feeling dizzy. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined to be transported to the hospital.

12:55 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at the Eckburg Hall involving a non-student model who fallen and hit her chin and lip. EMS responded to the scene and provided first aid. The model was transported to the hospital by her father.

5 p.m. — A woman person reported to security that a SCAD student had left her car keys on the tire of her vehicle so that the woman could pick them up and borrow the vehicle. When the woman arrived at Barnard Village the keys could not be located. The woman and the SCAD student did not wish to file a police report.

March 22

4:13 p.m. — Security responded to an off-campus vehicle accident involving two SCAD students. There were no injuries reported. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

7 p.m. — Security discovered the south side emergency door to Eichberg Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and secured the door.

8:30 p.m. — Security responded to a trouble alarm activation at a room in Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to be false and the system was silenced and reset.

9:39 p.m. — Security discovered the main entrance to Keys Hall was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and secured the door.

March 23

12:15 p.m. — Security discovered the rear fire door to Gulfstream was unsecured. Security patrolled the building and secured the door.

2 p.m. — Security responded to policy violation call at a room in Dyson House. The residence director stated that he had observed a glass jar on a counter that had a substance that appeared to be marijuana. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and arrested the student.

March 24

1:05 a.m. — Security responded to the report of a woman attempting to gain entry to multiple vehicles at Oglethorpe House. Security met the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police at the scene and it was determined that the woman had been reported missing to the police earlier in the evening. The police transported the woman back to her hotel.

March 25

No activity was reported.

March 26

6:50 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at a room in Barnard Village involving a student who had suffered a seizure. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

6:59 p.m. — Security found a wallet on the sidewalk outside of Arnold Hall. The wallet was inventoried and taken to dispatch.

7:30 p.m. — Security responded to vehicle accident involving a student who had backed into a parked ABM janitorial services van at Oglethorpe House. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

8:57 p.m. — Security responded to policy violation call at a room in Oglethorpe House. Security met the residence director and the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police at the scene. A SCAD student admitted to having drug paraphernalia and less than one ounce of marijuana. The police destroyed the paraphernalia and confiscated the marijuana.

March 27

5:53 p.m. — Security received a call from the Atlanta VA Hospital requesting to speak with a SCAD student. Security called the on-call manager and passed on the hospital’s phone number.

9:02 p.m. — Security responded to a trouble smoke alarm at a room in Boundary Village. The alarm was determined to be false and was reset.
