College Security Report Nov. 17-28, 2010

November 17

12:18 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Boundary Village. The alarm was caused by a dead battery and the item was placed on the maintenance log.

2:27 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her off-campus apartment had been burglarized on Nov. 15. The student stated that she had already notified Savannah Chatham-Metro Police and they issued a crime report.

4 p.m. — Security responded to a machine fire in the model shop at Eichberg Hall. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and the small fire was extinguished with a hand extinguisher.

November 18

9:05 a.m. — Security responded to vehicle accident involving two students. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report. There were no injuries reported.

9:10 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that he accidentally left his laptop in either Crites or Hamilton halls sometime on Nov. 1. The student checked both buildings but could not find the laptop.

5:23 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Barnard Village. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and it was determined that the alarm was caused by a student coking in the room.

5:32 p.m. — A Sodexho employee reported to security that her vehicle had been damaged while it was parked at Oglethorpe House. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

November 19

1:30 a.m. — Security responded to an alarm at Café SCAD. Security met Savannah Fire Department at the scene and the alarm was determined to be a false alarm. The system was not able to be reset. Sonitrol was notified of the situation and stated they would check the system.

10:05 a.m. — A SCAD professor stated that someone keyed his vehicle while it was parked at Clifford Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

11:42 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his vehicle had been struck by an unknown vehicle between 7:25 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 19. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

1 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from her off-campus residence. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

7:21 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at a room in Barnard Village. The alarm was determined to have been caused by a student cooking in the room. The alarm was silenced and reset.

10:35 a.m. — Security responded to medical call at Anderson Hall involving a staff member having chest pains. EMS responded to the scene and transported the staff member to Memorial University Medical Center.

9:10 a.m. — Security discovered the front door to York Hall unsecured. The security manager was notified and the doors were secured remotely.

7:49 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Dyson House. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and was reset.

1:25 p.m. — Security responded to a fire alarm activation at Granite Hall. Security met Savannah Fire Department at the scene and the alarm was determined to be a false alarm and was reset.

November 28

7:32 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and the system was reset.

11:10 p.m. — Security discovered that a fire extinguisher door at Dyson House had been damaged. Maintenance was notified of the damage.
