College Security Report Nov. 7-13, 2011
November 7
4:10 a.m. — A student reported to security that she thought her former off campus neighbors were stalking her. The student stated that she previously reported the issue to Residence Life and Counseling. The resident director was notified of the issue.
November 8
2:32 p.m. — Security responded to a drug policy violation at a room of Weston House. Security met the resident director and a security manager at the scene. A bag of a green, leafy substance and a pipe were found in the dorm. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and confiscated the items.
6:50 p.m. — Security responded to Dyson Field at the request of the Director of Student Conduct, Cris Dykeman. It was suspected that some students were smoking marijuana. No drugs were found.
November 9
12:17 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Jen Library involving a student passed out. EMS responded to the scene and the student was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.
11 a.m. — A student reported to security that he had lost his I-phone on the SCAD Red Line bus earlier in the day. Security checked with First Transit and no phones had been turned in.
5 p.m. — Security responded to an off-campus apartment fire at the request of Savannah-Chatham Metro Police. Police stated that they discovered chemicals in the apartment and were concerned as to whether they were flammable. The chemicals were tested and determined not to be harmful but used for a student project.
11:30 p.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident involving a student and a parked vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene, but did not issue a crime report. No injuries were reported.
November 10
10:40 a.m. — Security responded to an off-campus vehicle accident involving a student. No injuries were reported. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
12:53 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Boundary Village involving a student that burned her hand with hot water. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
6:57 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Eichberg Hall involving a student that accidentally cut herself with an Exacto knife. EMS responded to the scene and provided first aid. The student was not transported.
7:34 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Eichberg Hall involving a professor feeling ill. EMS responded to the scene and transported the professor to Memorial University Medical Center.
8:06 p.m. — A student reported to security that the passenger window of his vehicle had been broken while his vehicle was parked near Boundary Hall. No items were reported missing. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
8:28 p.m. — Security responded to a room of Turner House for a possible drug policy violation. The resident adviser and Savannah-Chatham metro Police responded to the scene and discovered five bags of marijuana and a pipe. Police issued a crime report. No students were arrested or charged. Police removed the drugs and pipe from the scene.
November 11
2 a.m. — Savannah-Chatham Metro Police informed security of the off-campus death of a student. Security notified the on-call manager.
2 p.m. — A student reported to security that her vehicle was keyed at an off-campus location. The student did not wish to file a police report.
November 12
12:15 a.m. — Security was notified by the students at Abercorn Terrace that the living room smoke detector was missing and has been missing since the beginning of the semester. Maintenance was notified of the issue.
12:50 a.m. — Security discovered graffiti damage to the fire escape doors at the Lucas Theater. Maintenance was notified.
10:35 p.m. — Security responded to a room of Turner House at the request of the resident director. The RD stated that the resident advisers smelled marijuana coming from a room. All occupants denied using marijuana, but one student produced a glass bong. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and confiscated the bong. No students were arrested or charged.
11:12 p.m. — Security responded to a dorm room in reference to a student complaining that his roommate was smoking marijuana. Security met the resident director at the scene and a search was conducted with no results.
November 13
3 a.m. — Security responded to a call box activation at Bergen Hall. Security discovered a man sleeping on the hood of a car located near the hall. The individual stated he was waiting for friends. While speaking with the individual, his friends arrived and he departed the scene.
6:20 p.m. — A student reported to security that a First Transit bus struck her vehicle and departed the scene. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
