College Security Report Oct. 10-16, 2011

October 10

7:30 p.m. — A student reported to security that someone broke the driver’s side window of his vehicle while it was parked at Arnold Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

October 11

12:20 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Arnold Hall involving a student ill student. The student declined medical attention and returned to his dorm via First Transit bus.

1 p.m. — A student in a room of Turner House reported that medication was missing from his room and that he believed it might have been stolen. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene, but would not issue a report for stolen/missing medication.

1:50 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Arnold Hall involving a student that was disoriented and unresponsive. EMS responded to the scene at transported the student to the hospital.

2:27 p.m. — Two students reported that they witnessed an unidentified man enter the building behind some students and attempt to steal a battery pack from a model bike. The man left the scene before security arrived.

2:55 p.m. — Security was asked to meet the on-call counselor at an off-campus location in reference to a student that had not contacted her parents in some time. The student was located at 4:52 p.m. and instructed to call her parents.

5:56 p.m. — A student reported to security that he either lost his wallet or it had been stolen while he was riding the First Transit bus. The wallet could not be located on the bus. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

October 12

2:52 a.m. — Dispatch received a phone call from an unidentified student stating that there was a man loitering near Alexander Hall and bothering students. Security responded to the scene, but the man left before security arrived.

3 p.m. — A student at a room of Abercorn Terrace reported that medication was missing from her room and that she believed it to be stolen. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene but would not issue a report.

5:36 p.m. — Security responded to multiple “trouble” alarm activations at the SCAD Museum of Art. Siemens Building Technologies was a notified of the alarms.

6:22 p.m. — The grandparent of a student called security and stated that she had not heard from her grandson in 24 hours. She requested that someone check on him. The student was later contacted and a follow-up call was made to the grandparent.

October 13

1:31 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at a room of Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and was reset.

1:36 a.m. — Security responded to the report of a large water leak coming from the maintenance room above the rear laundry room at Weston House. Physical Resources was notified of the leak.

9:30 a.m. — Security responded to vehicle accident at the Weston / Dyson Booth involving a tour bus that struck the bridge at the entrance of the complex. Physical Resources was notified of the incident.

11:15 a.m. — A student reported to security that he lost his wallet. The student stated that the wallet was probably lost while he was riding the Red Lin Bus between earlier in the day.

10:05 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at a room of Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and was reset.

10:20 p.m. — A student reported to security that his dorm key and vehicle key were missing. The student stated that he left the keys on the picnic table near the volleyball pit in the afternoon and noticed that they were missing when he finished playing volleyball.

10:59 p.m. — Security discovered an unsecured door at Bobbie’s Diner. Security contacted the Sodexho manager who came to the site to secure the door.

11:32 p.m. — Security responded to a report of a bat in a room of Barnard Village. The bat flew out of the room prior to security’s arrival.

October 14

3:05 a.m. — Security responded to an off-campus medical call regarding an intoxicated student who’d been dropped on her head as her friends attempted to carry her home. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

8:40 a.m. — Security responded to an off-campus medical call involving an intoxicated and injured student found on the corner of Whitaker Street and Oglethorpe Avenue by Savannah-Chatham Metro Police. The student stated he was drinking with friends the night before and could not remember how he arrived on the corner, or where his keys, wallet and phone were. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

10:30 a.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from Arnold Hall. The student stated that he secured the bike to a railing at 3:30 p.m. on the previous day and that the bike was missing when he returned at 10 a.m. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

11:30 p.m. — A student reported to security that he misplaced his backpack while at Gulfstream Center. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and stated they would complete a missing item report for the student.

October 15

4:50 a.m. — A student reported to security that she witnessed two men carrying a flat screen TV out of the turnstile gate at Barnard Village. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police was notified but could not file a report until a victim was identified. At 4:50 a.m. — A student reported to security that a TV, camera, Xbox and external hard drive were missing from the common living room of her Barnard Village room. The student stated she was asleep and did not notice the items missing until she woke up at 4 a.m. Police responded to the scene and spoke with the roommates. One stated she at 6:48 p.m. the night before and found the front door unsecured, but did not notice anything missing. The other reported that she arrived home at 12:01 a.m. and noticed the door was unsecured and the television was missing. Police issued a crime report.

10:30 a.m. — A student reported to security that she lost her cell phone while she was in the restroom at Weston House. Security informed the student that she would be contacted if the phone was turned in.

6:23 p.m. — Security responded to a room of Turner House in reference to a possible drug policy violation. Security met the resident director at the scene. No drugs found in the room.

7:40 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at a room of Barnard Village. A student cooking in the room was determined to have caused by.

8:15 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Wallin Hall involving a student who bumped her head on a desk while picking up a marker. The student stated that she did not need EMS response.

11:40 p.m. — Security responded to Wallin Hall in reference to an intoxicated student walking in and out of traffic. At the scene, the student became combative with security. A resident director was contacted and instructed security to notify police. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and charged the student with underage drinking and public drunkenness.

October 16

7 p.m. — Security responded to an off-campus vehicle accident at Henry and Whitaker streets involving a student and a non-SCAD individual. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center with what appeared to be minor injuries.
