College Security Report: Oct. 19-Dec. 27, 2009

Oct. 19

8:40 a.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident in the physical resources parking lot. The accident involved SCAD personnel. No injuries were reported and both parties declined to have the police notified. Pictures were taken of the accident.

9:30 a.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident in the Hamilton Hall parking lot. The accident involved two SCAD students. No injuries were reported. The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department was notified and a report was generated. Pictures were taken of the accident

2 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company reported a smoke alarm at a room in Barnard Village. Upon arrival at the scene, security met with a SCAD student. The security manager could not reset the false alarm. Sonitrol was notified of the situation and issued a work order to have system checked.

9:25 p.m.— A SCAD student locked her at Keys Halls at 7:40 p.m. She returned at 9:15 p.m. and her bike was missing. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police were contacted and generated a report.

Oct. 20

10:57 a.m.— A SCAD employee informed security that a SCAD student was using another SCAD student’s ID to enter Turner House. Security asked the student for the ID, but she refused to give it to security because she didn’t want her friend to get in trouble.

1 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call involving a SCAD student who had fallen on the stairs at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard entrance to Eichberg Hall causing her to twist her ankle. The student did not want EMS response.

1:30 p.m.— A SCAD student notified security that her vehicle had been damaged while it was parked in the Eichberg Hall lot. She stated that she had parked the car at 10:50 a.m., and that when she returned to the car at 1:30 p.m. she noticed that her vehicle had been hit. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

Oct. 21

No activity was reported.

Oct. 22

11:30 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at JO’s Café involving a SCAD student. The student stated that he had just finished working out at Club SCAD and that he fainted when he entered JO’s Café. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined transportation to the hospital. He was accompanied to his room by a friend.

Oct. 23

2:10 a.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector activation at a room in Abercorn Terrace. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene. Security determined the alarm was false.

4:52 p.m.— A community assistant reported to security that he had observed two individuals jump the back fence at Barnard Village and approach the bike rack. Security responded to the scene and asked the individuals why they were on site. The individuals stated that they had left a bike at the bike rack, but could not give any further details. When asked for identification, the individuals fled from the scene.

Oct. 24

occurred 3:30 a.m. Oct. 24, reported 5:10 p.m. Oct. 26— A SCAD student reported to security that an unknown male pulled a gun and robbed her while she was sitting in one of the squares behind Jen Library. The student stated that she was sitting with a male friend when the assailant approached and patted them down. The assailant took the student’s purse, containing $40. The student contacted the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police and filed a report.

1:32 p.m.— Security responded to an alarm activation at the Boundary Village booth. The alarm would not reset and Sonitrol alarm company was called. Sonitrol stated that the alarm was caused by a loose wire and that a work order would be placed for repair.

10:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her wallet had been stolen while she was at an off-campus house party on Barnard Street. She stated that she had set her purse down at 10 p.m. and that the wallet was missing when she picked her purse back up at 10:30 p.m. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.

Oct. 25

4:20 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the Jen Library. He stated that he had locked the bike to the scaffolding at Jen Library on Oct. 23, and that the bike was missing when he returned at 3 p.m. Oct. 24. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

Oct. 26

10:14 a.m.— Security responded to a call box alarm activation at the Old Arch. A patrol of the area was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

4:45 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his vehicle’s windshield had been damaged while he was in class. The student stated that he had parked his car in the back lot of Montgomery Hall, near the 52nd Street side, at 2 p.m. When he returned to the vehicle at 4:45 p.m., he noticed that his windshield had been damaged by an unknown object. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

7:17 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a trouble signal alarm at a room in Boundary Village. Security responded to the scene, but there was no sign of trouble at the panel and nothing out of the ordinary at the room. Security notified Sonitrol of the status of the alarm.

Oct. 27

8:54 a.m.— A SCAD staff member reported to security that a laptop had been stolen from her desk in room of York Hall. She stated that the laptop was last seen at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 26, and that the laptop was noticed to be missing that morning. The room the laptop was stolen from was not secured overnight. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

10:35 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Ex Libris bookstore involving a SCAD student. Ex Libris staff members stated that the student had a seizure on site. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined treatment.

2:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his Chevy Camaro was missing from the Orchard Lot across the street from Gulfstream Center. The student stated that he had parked the car in the lot at 8 p.m. Oct. 24, and that the car was missing when he returned at 2 p.m. Oct. 27. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

8:30 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a smoke detector alarm in a room in Boundary Village. Security met with the Savannah Fire Department at the scene and discovered that a SCAD student had left a project baking in the oven. The project had overheated and caused smoke to fill the room. The fire department used a fan to evacuate the smoke from the room and then the system was silenced and reset.

Oct. 28

12:24 a.m.— Security discovered an active trouble alarm at the panel in the Student Center (Sonitrol alarm company did not call regarding this alarm). The alarm was silenced and reset by security, but reactivated shortly thereafter. The panel stated that there was an active Fire Pump alarm. Security conducted a patrol of the building and discovered that the fire pump was making a strange noise. The pump was turned off repairs could be made in the morning. Sonitrol was also called and a work order was placed to have the system checked.

8:05 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that she had witnessed a hit-and-run in the Boundary Village parking lot. She stated that she had observed a man in a white vehicle back into a black Subaru, denting the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The driver then left the scene. Later in the day, it was discovered that the owner of the damaged vehicle was a SCAD student. The student/vehicle owner stated that he would notify police with the information provided about the accident, and would call security back with a report.

10 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that the back tire of his bike had been stolen. He stated that he had locked the bike to the bike rack at Club SCAD at 9 a.m. Oct. 28. The back tire was missing when he returned to the bike at 10 a.m. the same day. He stated that he did not have time to wait for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police to file a police report.

10:30 a.m.— A SCAD employee reported to security that his Ryder rental truck had been vandalized while it was parked in the Crites Hall parking lot. He stated that he had left the truck parked in the lot at 8 p.m. Oct. 27, and that he noticed that the truck had been vandalized with graffiti when he returned to get the truck at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 28. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

12:30 p.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident in the Oglethorpe House parking lot at the corner of Oglethorpe and Barnard streets. The accident involved two SCAD students. There were no injuries reported. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

2:06 p.m.— Security responded to a call box alarm activation at the Old Arch. Security conducted a foot patrol of the area, but nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

Oct. 29

12:18 a.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Abercorn Terrace. Security determined that the alarm was caused by a student using a clothes steam cleaner near the smoke detector. The alarm was silenced and reset.

5 a.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm at the Boundary Village booth. The alarm had reset itself prior to a supervisor’s arrival at the booth. Sonitrol alarm company was called and stated that they would place a work order to have the system checked.

4:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her windshield had been broken while her car was parked on the south side grass lot at Montgomery Hall. She stated that when she came out of class she noticed that her windshield was cracked and that there was a rock on the hood of her car. A fellow student stated that the same thing happened to her car at 8:15 p.m. Oct. 28, but the rock hit the roof of her car. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued reports.

6:22 p.m.— Security responded to a second floor bathroom trouble alarm at Poetter Hall. A foot patrol was conducted and nothing appeared out of the ordinary. Security silenced and reset the panel. Sonitrol alarm company was called and stated that they had not received this alarm on their panel and that they would place a work order to have the system checked.

8:18 p.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector activation in the Boundary Village common room. Security determined that the alarm was caused by students using a fog machine in the common room for a Halloween party. The machine was turned off and the room was ventilated. Security silenced and reset the alarm.

Oct. 30

2:22 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Turner House involving a SCAD student. The student appeared intoxicated and stated that she had been out and had a little to drink. She said she felt sick, not intoxicated, and requested transport to the hospital. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

7:20 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that she had accidentally backed up into a parked vehicle at Barnard Village. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report. A note was left on the damaged vehicle to call the police.

10:15 p.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security determined that the alarm was false and that there was no smoke or haze present. The alarm was silenced and reset. Sonitrol alarm company was contacted since the alarm notification did not come from Sonitrol and they stated that they would place a work order to have the system checked.

Oct. 31

12:09 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had stolen a fuse out of his Jeep Wrangler while it was parked at Boundary Village. He stated that he had parked the car in Boundary Village at 11 a.m. Oct. 24 and that the Jeep would not start when he tried to start the vehicle at 3 p.m. the same day. It was later discovered that the reason the Jeep did not start was the missing fuse. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.

12:49 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at JO’s Café involving a SCAD student. The student had fainted while in the café. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

7:14 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at a room in Boundary Village involving a SCAD student. The student stated that he was experiencing a panic attack. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

occurred 10:30 p.m. Oct. 31, reported 3:55 p.m. Nov. 1— A SCAD student reported to security that he had been assaulted while walking at an off-campus location at Price and Habersham streets. The student stated that he had been coming from a house party with a couple of friends when a black car pulled next to him and three to four men jumped out and started punching him. The men then jumped back in the car and drove off. The student went back to the house party and cleaned himself off. He stated that he did not need immediate medical attention and did not wish to file a police report because he didn’t want to be bothered with the police.

Nov. 1

occurred 1:15 a.m. Nov. 1, reported 3 p.m. Nov. 1— A SCAD student reported to security that he had been robbed at gunpoint at an off-campus location near one of the squares near Broughton, Liberty or Whitaker streets. The student stated that he and some friends were looking for a party. They stopped at an unknown house for directions and were given some candy. Noticing that he still had the tray on which the candy was presented, the student decided to take the tray back to the house on his own. While walking back, two males in a red four-door sedan approached him and asked for directions. The men then pulled a gun and asked for his money. The student stated that he was able to get his SCAD ID and state ID from the wallet prior to giving the wallet to the men. He then ran from the vehicle and hid in some bushes. Although he still did not know where he was, he was eventually able to meet back up with his friends and went home. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.

2:40 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that a white Mitsubishi Lancer had followed her for some distance and had attempted to enter the Alice House parking area when she pulled into the garage. The vehicle was unable to gain entry, but circled the block and unsuccessfully attempted to enter a second time. The student stated that she had previously seen the same car in the garage. Security responded to the scene and did not see a vehicle matching the description given. Extra checks of Alice House were scheduled.

11:30 a.m.— A SCAD student notified security that there was a vehicle parked in the Montgomery parking lot with a broken windshield. The car was later discovered to be owned by a SCAD student. The student stated that she had parked the car at 8 a.m. Nov. 1, and returned to the vehicle at 11:30 a.m. the same day. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

3:49 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from an off-campus location at 31st and Habersham streets. The student stated that she had locked the bike to a pole at 1 a.m. Oct. 31 and that the bike was gone when she returned at 7:30 a.m. the same day. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.

4:18 p.m.— A person reported to security that at 4:18 p.m. he had witnessed six people walking past him near the first floor Jen Library elevator. As they passed, the last individual tripped on some cables and fell forward causing him to hit his head on the wall. The individual stated that he did not need medical attention and was transported back to his residence by his driver.

11:36 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Turner House involving a SCAD student. The student’s roommate stated that she had suffered a seizure. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined to be transported and stated that she had a history of seizures.

Nov. 2

9:20 a.m.— A SCAD worker reported to security that someone had struck his vehicle and left the scene. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

6:44 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had damaged his vehicle while it was parked in the Boundary Village parking lot. The student stated that he had parked the car at 1 a.m. Nov. 2, and that when he returned to the car at 5 p.m. he noticed a dent in the driver’s side door. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

9:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that there was a broken vending machine near his dorm room at Weston House. Security responded to the scene and discovered the door to the vending machine was open allowing access to vending items and money. Security collected the money and items and delivered them to dispatch.

Nov. 3

8:30 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Norris Hall involving a SCAD student. The student had fainted while attending class. EMS responded to the scene, but the student refused treatment.

10:55 a.m.— A SCAD student backed into the gate arm at Boundary Village causing the arm to bend. Maintenance was notified to check the arm to see if repairs were needed.

11:35 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Weston House. The student stated that she had last seen the bike on Oct. 31 or Nov. 1. She noticed the bike was gone at 11 a.m. Nov. 3. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

6:50 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that he had discovered a dent on the hood of his vehicle after it was parked at Montgomery Hall. The student was unsure as to whether the damage occurred on Nov. 2 or Nov. 3. He stated that he did not wish the police to respond to the scene.

Nov. 4

7:54 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from an off-campus location. She stated that the bike had been stolen sometime between the night of Nov. 2 and noon Nov. 3. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.

3 p.m.— Security provided transport for a SCAD student and the on-call counselor to Memorial Health Behavioral Clinic. The on-call counselor was given a ride back to her vehicle after the transport.

8:09 p.m.— Security officers observed a truck enter the Weston/Dyson area with several individuals hiding under a cover. Security followed the vehicle and asked the driver and the passengers for ID. All individuals were confirmed to be students and stated that they were just joking around.

11:59 p.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector activation alarm at a room in Boundary Village. Security determined that the alarm was false with no smoke or haze present. The alarm was silenced and reset.

Nov. 5

1:30 p.m.— Security responded to a vehicle accident at the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police parking lot, next to Physical Resources, involving a SCAD construction employee and a police personal vehicle. The police responded to the scene and issued a report.

1:30 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at the Jen Library. A SCAD student stated that he had fallen off his bike at the corner of Drayton and Broughton streets. EMS responded to the scene, but the student refused treatment.

5:31 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from Arnold Hall. The student stated that she locked her bike next to Arnold Hall at 2 p.m. Nov. 5, and that the bike was missing when she returned at 4:30 p.m. She did not wish to file a police report.

Nov. 6

2:52 a.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Turner House involving a SCAD student. The student stated that she was not feeling well. EMS responded to the scene, but the student did not want to be transported. Security was again called at 4:33 a.m. regarding the same student not feeling well, but the student again did not want EMS response.

8:22 a.m.— Security was notified that it appeared as if someone had tampered with a third floor door lock at Jen Library. An operations manager responded to the scene and noticed some minor damage near the door lock, but the door was still secure.

Nov. 7

10:58 a.m.— Security responded to a Dumpster fire behind Café SCAD. The Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

11:35 a.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Boundary Village. Security discovered that the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the room. The alarm was silenced and reset by security.

2:51 p.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security determined that the alarm was false and the system was silenced and reset.

occurred 6:45 p.m. Nov. 7, reported 12:15 p.m. Nov. 8— A SCAD student reported to security that he had been robbed at gunpoint at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 7. The student stated that he was walking home from a neighbor’s house on 36th Street and DeSoto Avenue when he was approached by two men who asked for his money. The student gave the men his wallet containing $60, five credit cards, state ID, SCAD ID and some other cards. He also gave up his cell phone (valued at $299). The student stated that he had already reported the incident to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police and a report had been taken.

Nov. 8

5:40 a.m.— Security observed a Toyota Corolla strike a post while entering the B side of Abercorn Terrace. The driver ran into an unknown dorm prior to security being able to speak with them. The car had a SCAD parking decal.

12 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike rack in front of Oglethorpe House. The student stated that he had locked the bike at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7, and that he noticed the bike missing at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

7:51 p.m.— Security responded to smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Boundary Village. Security determined that the alarm was caused by students cooking in the room. Security silenced and reset the alarm.

9:45 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that he had been mugged at the corner of Whitaker and Charlton streets. The student stated that he was walking from his residence on East Waldburg Street to Eichberg Hall. Two men followed him through Forsyth Park and attacked him from behind, placing a gun to his neck and asking for his belongings. The student gave the men his backpack containing a hard drive, cords, headphones and his cell phone. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police were notified of the incident and issued a report.

11:16 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Dyson Lab involving a SCAD student. The residence director was on scene and stated that the student had suffered a seizure. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

Nov. 13

1 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his camera was missing from a room in Eichberg Hall. The student stated that he had left the camera in an unlocked art box on Nov. 9, and that the camera was missing when he returned to retrieve it on Nov. 13. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

4:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from an off-campus location on Broughton Street. The student stated that he had left his bike unlocked outside of the FedEx on Broughton Street at 4:30 p.m. The bike was missing when he returned to retrieve it moments later. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

6 p.m.— Security received a call from Turner Express stating that an unknown individual had jumped the fence to gain entry to the Turner House area and was harassing the students. Security responded to the scene and observed the man walking away from the area down Boundary Street. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued the individual a banned form.

7:45 p.m.— A Club SCAD manager reported to security that a window had broken at Club SCAD. A SCAD student stated that he had heard some pops outside and then the window had broken. Security responded to the scene, but nothing out of the ordinary was observed. Maintenance was called to replace the window.

Nov. 14

3:50 a.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. Security discovered that the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the room. The alarm was silenced and reset by security.

8:20 a.m.— Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police arrived on site at Oglethorpe House looking for a SCAD student in regards to a contempt warrant from an earlier citation. The police escorted the student off-site.

10:30 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from an off-campus location near Bull and Broughton streets. The student stated that she had locked the bike at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12, and that the bike was missing when she returned two days later at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 14. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

1:26 p.m.— Security responded to call box activation at Arnold Hall. A patrol of the area was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was observed. The alarm was also activated at 2:22 p.m. and again at 2:40 p.m. Each time security responded to the scene, but did not observe anything out of the ordinary.

Nov. 15

Nov. 16

12:10 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his vehicle had been damaged while it was parked at Barnard Village. The student stated that he had parked the car in the lot at 11 p.m. Nov. 15, and when he returned to the vehicle at 9 a.m. Nov. 16 he noticed a scratch on the rear bumper. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police was notified of the incident, but did not issue a report since the vehicle had been moved by the owner subsequent to being damaged.

1 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from an off-campus location on Lincoln Street. The student stated that she had locked the bike to a tree at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10, and that the bike was missing when she returned at 9 p.m. the same day. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.

2 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his vehicle had been damaged while it was parked at Fahm Hall. The student stated that he had parked the car in the lot at 10:50 a.m. Nov. 16, and that when he returned to the vehicle at 1:40 p.m. on the same day he noticed scratches on the rear bumper. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police was notified of the incident, but did not issue a report since the other vehicle involved was not present.

Nov. 18

4:30 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had broken into his vehicle while it was parked in front of Pepe Hall and that his iPod was taken from the vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

9:14 a.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at Propes Hall. Security determined that the alarm had been caused by the cleaning company dusting in the area. The alarm was silenced and reset.

12:15 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call on the third floor of Crites Hall involving a SCAD student. The student stated that she was not feeling well. EMS responded to the scene, but the student did not want to be transported. She had a friend transport her to the SCAD clinic.

12:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that she had loaned her car to another SCAD student on Oct. 9, and that the vehicle’s rear passenger door panel and a set of headphones had been damaged while the vehicle was being used. The student did not want police response.

1 p.m.— A security officer at the Boundary Village booth notified an operations manager that every day a student has been ignoring policy and not showing her ID when she entered the area. The operations manager responded to the booth and the student entered the area while he was there. The student refused to acknowledge security and biked through the gate, ignoring repeated requests to stop and show ID. The student lives in the residence hall.

2 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Eichberg Hall. The student stated that she had locked the bike to the rack at 2 p.m. Nov. 15, and that when she returned on Nov. 18 the front tire and basket were still locked to the rack, but the remainder of the bike was gone. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

10:06 p.m.— Security responded to a smoke detector alarm activation at a room in Barnard Village. The alarm was reported by the booth officer and did not come from Sonitrol alarm company. Security determined that the alarm was false and was able to silence and reset the alarm. Sonitrol was notified and stated that they would have a tech check the system.

11:38 p.m.— Security responded to a medical call at Abercorn Terrace. A residence director stated that a SCAD student had been leaning on the north side 62nd Street vehicle entrance gate when the gate had been activated. The student’s hand was injured by the gate’s pulley system. Prior to the operations manager’s arrival at the scene, the student had been transported to Candler Hospital by a fellow SCAD student. Security notified the on-call manager on duty.

10:50 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his phone had been stolen outside of Arnold Hall. The student stated that someone asked to borrow his phone and then they had run away taking the phone. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police were notified of the incident.

11:05 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her phone had been stolen outside of Arnold Hall. The student stated that someone asked to borrow her phone and then they had run away taking the phone. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police were notified of the incident and apprehended a suspect. The student’s property was returned to her by the police, and the police issued a report.

9:06 a.m.— Security observed two boys attempting to jump the fire door on the Civic Center side of Oglethorpe House. The boys fled when they saw security approaching. Extra patrols of the area were scheduled for the remainder of the day.

10:16 a.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a motion alarm at Hamilton Hall. Security responded to the scene and conducted a foot patrol of the building. Nothing out of the ordinary was discovered. The alarm was reset.

1:30 p.m.—Security responded to an alarm at Gordon Hall. The alarm was not able to be silenced or reset. A Sonitrol alarm company tech responded to the scene and disconnected a switch until repairs could be made.

4:15 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a trouble alarm at Pepe Hall. Security responded to the scene and discovered that the system would silence itself and then return to an alarm state every two to three minutes. Maintenance was notified of the situation.

2:15 p.m.— A Crites Hall employee reported to security that a computer was missing from a room in Crites Hall. She stated that she noticed the computer missing on Nov. 20 and that she called maintenance to see if they had taken the computer for repairs. Maintenance called her back Dec. 3 and told her that they did not have the computer. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

2:05 a.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a trouble alarm activation at Kiah Hall. A foot patrol of the exterior was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was found. Sonitrol called back and informed security that the alarm had reset itself.

Dec. 5

7:50 a.m.— Security responded to a pull station trouble alarm on the sixth floor of Oglethorpe House. An inspection of the pull stations showed all of the pull stations intact. The trouble alarm was silenced and reset.

9:37 a.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm in the basement of Pepe Hall. A foot patrol of the area was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered. Maintenance was notified and stated that the alarm was a reoccurring alarm from last week and that they would notify Sonitrol alarm company.

10:15 a.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a trouble alarm activation at the Equestrian Center. Security could not respond due to the Talmadge Bridge being shut down. Sonitrol stated that the alarm was a system trouble alarm and had reset itself and that no further action was necessary.

11:15 a.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a system trouble alarm at Dyson House. Upon arrival at the site, the system was reading that all systems were normal. Sonitrol was notified of the discrepancy.

3:13 p.m.— A barn manager at the Equestrian Center informed security that there was a suspicious man hanging out near the well house of the Equestrian Center. Security responded to the scene, but there was no one on site matching the description that was given. Extra patrols of the Equestrian Center were scheduled.

7:56 a.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a trouble alarm activation at Kiah Hall. A foot patrol of the exterior was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was found. Sonitrol called back and informed security that the alarm had reset itself.

11:30 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his black scooter had been stolen from his off-campus apartment on East State Street. The student stated that he believed that the scooter was stolen sometime on the night of Dec. 7 prior to 11:30 p.m. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

12:05 p.m.— Security discovered damage to one of the first floor screens at Turner House. The screen appeared to have been pried open from the outside, but it did not appear as if anyone had been able to enter the dorm from the outside. Maintenance was notified of the situation.

3 p.m.— Security received a call box activation from the Old Arch call box. A patrol of the area was conducted, but nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

2:30 a.m.— An off-campus SCAD student reported to security that her Toyota Scion was missing from the rear parking lot at Oglethorpe House. The student stated that she had parked the vehicle at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 11, and that the vehicle was missing when she returned at 2:30 a.m. Dec. 12. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

9:47 a.m.— Security discovered the front door to Keys Hall was unsecured. A foot patrol of the building was conducted and nobody was inside the building and nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary. Security locked the door.

12:10 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a motion detector alarm activation at Lai Wa Hall. Security responded to the scene and discovered painting contractors on site. The contractors were given entry by a Lai Wa employee. The alarm was silenced and reset.

2:50 p.m.— Security discovered the front gate to Corbin Hall was unsecured. A foot patrol of the building was conducted and nobody was inside the building and nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary. Security locked the gate.

2:54 p.m.— Security received a call box activation from the Gordon Hall call box. A patrol of the area was conducted, but nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.

4 p.m.— A Club SCAD manager notified security that a window on the Barnard Street side of Club SCAD had been broken. Security responded to the scene and discovered that the window had been broken from the outside. The manager stated that he had noticed the damage when he was closing Club SCAD. Maintenance was notified so that the window could be boarded up.

8:25 p.m.— Security discovered a trouble alarm at the Turner House alarm panel. Security was able to silence and reset the alarm.

7 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of a trouble alarm activation at the Equestrian Center. Security responded to the scene, and a foot patrol of the area was conducted and the alarm was then silenced and reset.

9:05 p.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm at Weston House. A foot patrol was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was found. The alarm reset itself.

11:54 p.m.— Security responded to a motion detector alarm in the basement of Kiah Hall. A foot patrol of the exterior of the building was conducted and it was determined that the building was secure.

8 p.m.— Security responded to a trouble alarm activation at Turner House. A foot patrol of the area was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered. The alarm was silenced and reset.

8:36 p.m.— Security discovered the front door to Keys Hall was unsecured. A foot patrol of the interior of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered. Security secured the door.

1:20 p.m.— Security discovered two open windows on the third floor of Morris Hall. Security secured the windows.

4:02 p.m.— A SCAD parent contacted security and stated that her son, a SCAD student, had taken a trip to Florida and had not returned to his off-campus residence in Savannah. The parent also stated that she had been unable to contact her son for some time and was concerned. Security notified the on-call manager of the situation and asked her to contact the parent.
