College Security Report Oct. 31-Nov. 6, 2011
October 31
10 p.m. — A SCAD parent called security concerned that their daughter’s boyfriend was being abusive. Security passed the information to the on-call manager.
November 1
10 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike was stolen from the bike rack at Oglethorpe House on Oct. 30. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
November 2
6:35 a.m. — Security responded to a minor vehicle accident at the Weston/Dyson lot. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
2:20 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Boundary Village involving a student having a seizure. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined to be transported.
4:45 p.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident between a student vehicle and a security vehicle. EMS and Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene. The security officer was transported to Memorial University Medical Center. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police issued crime report.
5 p.m. — A professor reported to security that a student’s computer was stolen from a third floor classroom at Habersham Hall. The computer was left unattended from 2-5 p.m. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
5:25 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at a room of Turner House involving a student suffering from abdominal pains. EMS responded to the scene, but the student declined to be transported.
6:10 p.m. — A student reported to security that his vehicle was damaged while parked at Barnard Village. The student stated that he did not want police response.
November 3
4:30 p.m. — Security responded to a smoke detector activation at a room of Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and was reset.
5 p.m. – A student reported to security that her car was damaged while parked in the Oglethorpe parking lot. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
6:20 p.m. — Security responded to a smoke detector activation at a room of Barnard Village. A student cooking in the room was determined to have caused the alarm.
November 4
2:40 a.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident involving a student who struck a telephone pole and fled the scene. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene. The student’s mother was contacted and the student returned to the vehicle where he was placed under arrest for underage consumption of alcohol. Police issued a crime report.
10:15 a.m. — A student reported to security that her bike was stolen from the bike racks at the 3000 building of Barnard Village. The student did not wish to notify police.
5:48 p.m. — A student reported to security that her laptop was missing from Crites Hall. The student stated that she left the laptop unattended in a room the day before. The laptop was missing when she returned. She did not wish to file a police report.
6:23 p.m. — Security responded to a vehicle accident at Boundary Street and Louisville Road involving a First Transit bus and another vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
November 5
1 p.m. — A student reported to security that she lost her cell phone at an off-campus location.
November 6
10 a.m. — A student reported to security that her vehicle was broken into at an off-campus location. The student stated that she parked the car at 1 a.m. and noticed that the back window was broken when she returned at 9 a.m. She stated that numerous SCAD-owned items were missing from the vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
2:30 p.m. — A student reported to security that her SCAD ID and cell phone were missing. The student stated that she left the items on the ground next to her mother while she went for a run. The items were missing when she returned.
