College Security Report Sep. 12-18, 2011

September 12

1:07 a.m. — Security discovered an unsecured door at the Sub Connection at Turner House. Sodexho was contacted.

10:30 a.m. — A student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Club SCAD. The student declined to file a report with police.

8 p.m. — A reported to security that someone busted the window of his vehicle while it was parked at 34th and Habersham streets. No items were missing from the vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

September 13

2 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from Arnold Hall. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

2 p.m. — A resident director requested security response at two rooms of Turner House. He stated that he smelled marijuana. The smell was not present when security arrived and the resident director did not need further assistance.

September 14

12:04 a.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm activation at a room at Barnard Village. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that a student cooking in a room caused the alarm.

4:16 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike was stolen from Arnold Hall. The bike was not registered and the student did not wish to file a police report.

6:50 p.m. — A student reported to security that a UPS package was stolen from the porch of her off-campus residence. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

8 p.m. — Security responded to minor vehicle accident at Barnard Village. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

9:10 p.m. — A resident director reported the possible smell of marijuana coming from a room at Turner House. Security responded to the scene and was present when the resident director inspected the room. No drugs were found.

11:34 p.m. — A student reported to security that a credit and debit card was missing from his room at Turner House. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and instructed the student to call police if any charges were made on the card.

11:37 p.m. — Security observed a young man looking in car windows as he walked toward Howard Street. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police was notified and given a description.

September 15

12:30 p.m. — A student reported that he had been the victim of a home invasion between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Two laptops, two cell phones and a wallet were taken. The student stated that he filed a report with Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.

4:48 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Liberty and Bull streets involving a student that had been struck by a vehicle. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

7:19 p.m. — An Ex Libris employee reported to security that her wallet had been stolen. The employee stated that she left the wallet on a desk and noticed it missing at 4 p.m. She had already notified Savannah-Chatham Metro Police and a crime report was issued.

11:55 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at a room at Boundary Village. Upon arrival, security observed smoke coming from a room and confirmed that there was a trashcan on fire in the room. The Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

September 16

3 a.m. — A student reported to security that his unsecured bike had been stolen from his off-campus residence. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

9:28 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm in a room of Abercorn Terrace. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and was reset.

10:12 p.m. — A student attempted to gain access to Turner House using an ID card belonging to another student. The resident adviser responded to the scene and the students were instructed on campus ID policy.

September 17

1:30 a.m. — Savannah-Chatham Metro Police reported to security that they had broken up a party at Abercorn and Gaston streets and were arresting a student on several charges.

2:15 a.m. — Security discovered damage to a potted plant outside of Pinnacle Gallery. The item was placed on the maintenance work order list for Monday morning.

5 p.m. — A student reported to security that her wallet was missing from the Dyson House common room. The student stated that she had left the wallet unattended on a pool table and that the wallet was missing when she returned.

7:40 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from Gulfstream Center. The student did not wish to file a police report.

9:02 p.m. — Security responded to an alarm activation at Ex Libris. The alarm was determined to be an anti-tamper alarm under a countertop. A check of the equipment was conducted and the alarm was determined to be a false alarm.

September 18

1:40 a.m. — Security responded to Broughton Street in reference to an intoxicated student. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

2 p.m. — A student reported to security that a T-square, ruler and WaCom tablet were missing from his workstation at Dyson Lab. The student stated that the items were there when he left 9 a.m. but were missing when he returned at 2 p.m. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.

2:30 p.m. — A student reported to security that a detachable light had been taken off of his bike while it was locked up at Oglethorpe House. The student did not wish to file a police report.
