College Security Report Sep. 14-19, 2010

14 September

5:34 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the bike racks at Dyson House. The student stated that she secured her bike to the rack on Sept. 13 and noticed it missing when she returned the next day. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

15 September

9:05 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call. A SCAD student cut her ankle after a fall outside of Eichberg Hall. EMS responded to the scene and the student was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.

7:02 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that he accidentally cut his finger and wanted to be transported to the hospital. The student did not want EMS response. A resident director was contacted and arranged transport for the student.

9:42 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Boundary Village. The alarm restored itself and a patrol of the area found no discrepancies.

16 September

12:01 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from Forsyth House. The student stated she did lock the bike to the building’s bike rack. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

12:36 a.m. — A SCAD student approached security and asked if they could contact police so he could have a breathalyzer test conducted on himself. The student appeared intoxicated and stated that he would not leave until police were called. He stated he was upset because a resident advisor accused him of being intoxicated and he wanted to prove that he had not been drinking. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and told the student that they would not test him and that he should return to his room. The student complied without further incident.

1:10 a.m. — A resident advisor requested assistance with an intoxicated student at Turner House. A SCAD student returned to her room intoxicated and sick. The student stated she had lupus and was having a flare up. EMS and Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene. The student declined to be transported and her roommate stated that she would monitor the student’s condition and notify the resident director if the condition worsened.

6:30 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that she lost her wallet while shopping at Walmart. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded and issued a report.

7:48 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Turner House. A SCAD student stated she was having an allergic reaction to peanuts. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

17 September

12:32 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Jen Library that repeatedly sounded and reset. Sonitrol stated they would have the alarm checked on Monday morning.

2 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at room Boundary Village. A SCAD student stated that another student arrived at her dorm intoxicated and requested to wait there until her roommate returned. The intoxicated student became sick and unresponsive and the resident advisor was called. EMS responded to the scene but the student refused transport and was escorted to his room.

2:40 a.m. — Security responded to Turner House in reference to a possible drug violation. A resident director stated that while conducting a round of the area he smelled a strange odor. Upon investigation they found two students in smoking in the bathroom with the shower running. The students claimed they were smoking an herbal aphrodisiac that they bought at a shop. The resident director did not believe the students were smoking marijuana and stated that he did not feel police response was necessary.

5 a.m. — Security responded to an “door” alarm at Hamilton Annex. A patrol of the outer building was conducted and all doors were found to be secure.

3:40 p.m. — Security observed a Dempsey Dumpster vehicle driving close to Dyson Field when the pavement collapsed and the truck became stuck. The truck was able to be towed away and maintenance was informed of the damage.

9:50 p.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Turner House. A SCAD student stated she cut her finger while cutting a bagel. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Candler Hospital.

18 September

12:07 a.m. — Security responded to Turner Bridge for a possible intoxicated student. A SCAD student was lying on the ground and was disoriented. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.

1:34 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Eckburg Hall. A patrol of the building was conducted and the alarm was reset.

2:48 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Hamilton Annex. A patrol was conducted and the alarm was reset.

7:20 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike rack at the back end of Turner House. The student stated the front tire of the bike had been locked to the rack and that someone had taken the bike and had left the tire. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a report.

9 p.m. — Security responded to Turner House at the request of a resident director. The director said a student approached him regarding his two roommates and illegal substances. Security arrived at the scene with the director and police. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police found less than an ounce of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. There were no arrests and no crime report.

19 September

12:10 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that she had been harassed by an unknown man at the Mirage on Broughton Street. The student stated that the unknown male approached her while she was eating and sat at her table. The man then began making advances and put his cell number on her phone. The man caused a scene as the student attempted to leave. The restaurant manager threw him out. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to Turner House at the request of the student but did not issue a report because an hour and a half had passed. The student declined an offer to have the on-call counselor contacted.

12:58 a.m. — Security discovered an unsecured patio door at Café SCAD. Security notified the general manager who stated someone would secure the door in the morning.

2 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Eckburg Hall. A patrol was conducted and the alarm was reset.

2 a.m. — Several students reported to security that an unknown student had vandalized two signs at Turner House. The unknown subject used a metal stool to damage the Turner Express and snack shop signs.

2:45 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the Oglethorpe bike racks close to Club SCAD. The student stated that she secured the bike to the rack at 6 p.m. the ay before and that the bike was missing when she returned 1:45 p.m. Sept. 19. The bike was gone but the lock remained on the bike rack. The student did not wish to file a report with police.

3:40 p.m. — Security responded to an elevator entrapment at Turner House. Atlantic Coast Elevator responded to the scene and opened the elevator door for the students.
