College Security Report Sep. 19-22, 2011
September 19
4:35 p.m. — A student reported to security that her IPod had been stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the Eckburg Lot. The student stated that she parked the vehicle at 11 a.m. and when she returned at 4:35 p.m. the item was missing from the center console. There were no signs of forced entry.
10:35 p.m. — Security responded to a “smoke” alarm at Fahm Hall. Security met the Savanna Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that the alarm was a false alarm.
September 20
11:20 a.m. — Security responded to a medical call at Alexander Hall regarding a student that suffered a seizure. EMS responded to the scene and transported the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
3 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike racks at Club SCAD between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. The student did not wish to file a police report.
3:49 p.m. — A student accidentally hit the Norris Hall fire escape with her vehicle. The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator was notified and the student’s insurance information was gathered by security.
4:17 p.m. — A security observed a young male leaving Abercorn Terrace with a bike. The youth ran from the scene when approached by security. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police was notified and given a description of the suspect.
5:10 p.m. — A student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Pulaski House sometime within the last week. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
7:30 p.m. — A student called dispatch and requested to speak with an on-call counselor. Security contacted the counselor and passed on the student’s information.
10 p.m. — A student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Club SCAD between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
September 21
4:39 a.m. — Security responded to a fire alarm activation at Arnold Hall. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that the alarm was a false alarm.
2:55 p.m. — Security responded to an alarm activation at a room of Barnard Village. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that a student cooking in the room caused the alarm.
September 22
1:58 a.m. — A student reported to security that she a suspicious male followed her from a downtown pub to her dorm. The student was instructed on Red Eye Ride availability.
7 p.m. — A student reported to security that as he passed a group of teenagers near 36th and Bull streets, one of the teenagers punched him in the face. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
8:51 p.m. — Security responded to an alarm activation at Abercorn Terrace. It was discovered that the power supply to the alarm box had become unplugged. Security plugged the system back in and reset the alarm.
9:02 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Abercorn Terrace. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene where it was determined that the alarm was a false alarm. The system was reset.
10:01 p.m. — Security observed a suspicious person loitering near the bike racks at Wallin Hall. The individual immediately fled the area when he saw security. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police was informed of the incident and given a description of the individual.
