College Security Report Sep. 20-23, 2010
September 20
12:01 p.m. — An on-call counselor requested transport from the Health Services Clinic to Memorial University Medical Center for herself and one student. Security responded to the scene and provided transportation.
12:47 p.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at the Clarence Thomas Center. A patrol of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was found.
2 p.m. — Security responded to an elevator entrapment at Arnold Hall. Atlantic Coast Elevator responded to the scene and opened the door for the students.
3:27 p.m. — Security responded to a smoke alarm at Abercorn Terrace. Security met Savannah Fire Department at the scene. Upon investigation it was determined that the alarm was caused by a faulty smoke detector. The alarm was silenced and reset.
September 21
12:44 a.m. — Security responded to a smoke alarm at Barnard Village. The alarm was determined to be a false alarm and the system was silenced and reset.
8:20 a.m. — Security reported to dispatch that she tripped on some wires behind the desk at Alexander Hall and fell to the ground striking her right knee. The guard declined EMS assistance but was sent to the Allied Barton panel doctor to be checked.
11:40 a.m. — Security responded to a smoke alarm at Barnard Village. Security met the Savannah Fire Department at the scene and it was determined the alarm was caused by students melting wax for a school project. The alarm was silenced and reset.
12:15 p.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen. The student stated that he locked the bike outside his room the night day before and it was gone when he checked on it today. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a report number.
September 22
8:50 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his bike had been stolen from Dyson House. The student stated he secured the bike to the outside rail. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a crime report.
10:51 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm at Boundary Village. The alarm restored itself and no discrepancies were found during a patrol of the area.
12:55 p.m. — A SCAD professor reported to security that a student fell asleep during class and fell from his chair when awakened. The student told the professor he was uninjured and did not need medical assistance. After the student departed the scene, the professor overheard his claims of a dislocated his shoulder. The student was not on scene when security arrived.
2 p.m. — Security received a call requesting a well-being check on a student who sent texts stating that she was going to harm herself. Security notified the on-call counselor. The counselor was able to contact the student and had the student report to York Hall.
2:06 p.m. — GA Gator Control responded to the canal by Weston Dyson to remove a four-foot alligator from the property.
September 23
9:59 a.m. — Security responded to a student having a panic attack at Pulaski House. Security contacted the on-call counselor at the student’s request.
11 a. m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the side bike rack at Oglethorpe House. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded and issued a report.
11 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from an off-campus location on Sept. 12. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded and issued a report.
