College Security Report: Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2008
Sept. 29
1:44 a.m.—A SCAD student was entering Boundary Village on his motorcycle when the gate arm lowered, caught his book bag and broke it off. The student was not injured.
1:30 p.m.—A Black Mini Cooper with Texas plates and a SCAD student decal was towed for parking in a maintenance only parking space at Turner House.
Notified: Jim Soden
3 p.m.—Windows on a SCAD bus were broken, apparently by a rock, near Arnold Hall. Police were called and and a report was filed.
Oct. 1
1:05 a.m.—Security discovered the Soccer field gate at the equestrian center was unsecured. Security patrolled the area and secured the gate.
5:51 p.m.—Security discovered an alley door of the Red Gallery was unsecured. Security patrolled the site and secured the door.
Oct. 2
2:21 a.m.—Security responded to a medical call at Eichberg Hall. A SCAD student stated that she had passed out and had struck her head on the floor. She stated that she was uninjured and did not want EMS response.
9:26 p.m.—Security responded to a smoke detector activation at room in Boundary Village. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the dorm. The fire department instructed security to silence and reset the alarm.
10:19 p.m.—Security responded to a vehicle collision at Hamilton Hall involving a student and a parked vehicle. Police responded to the scene and generated a report. There were no injuries reported.
Oct. 3
12:54 a.m.—Security found graffiti at the top of the staircase that leads to the Turner Bridge from the Weston/Dyson parking lot. Pictures were taken of the damage.
7:45 p.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation in a room at Boundary Village. Upon investigation it was determined that the alarm was caused by a student using a fog machine in the dorm. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and instructed security to silence and reset the alarm.
Oct. 4
10:20 a.m.— A non-student reported to security that his bike was missing from the bike rack at Jen Library. He stated that he locked the bike to the rack at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 and that the bike was missing when he returned at 10:30 on Oct. 4. Police were notified of the incident, but did not respond for several hours and the victim was gone by the time they arrived.
2:28 p.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation in a room at Boundary Village. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the dorm. The fire department instructed security to silence and reset the alarm.
9:46 a.m.—Security responded to a medical call at Turner House regarding an intoxicated student. A SCAD student stated that she had had some drinks with a friend and could not remember any other details. Three resident assitantss were on site and called EMS. EMS transported the student to the hospital.
Oct. 5
2:11 a.m.—Security discovered the side door to Boundary Hall was unsecured. A patrol of the building was completed and the door was then secured.
7:26 p.m.—Security responded to an alarm activation in a room at Pulaski House. Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the alarm was caused by a student cooking in the dorm. The fire department instructed security to silence and reset the alarm.
