To kick off the recent opening of the “In Living Color” exhibit, on April 9 the Jepson art center put on a Pop Art Pop-up Party. Featuring works by Andy Warhol, Chuck Close and John Baldessari the night centered around the creative use of bright colors and design that created the pop art style.

The biggest feature of the evening was the new show stopper of the Jepson, “Hot Pink.” The continuously inflatable sculpture — hanging suspended from the ceiling — was created by the French artist Anne Ferrer. Its bright hot pink color scheme and organic design were a modern twist on the pop art style and captured the themes of both the exhibit and the evening. Ferrer attended the event and lectured on her previous work as well as “Hot Pink,” which she produced along with inflatable costumes for the evening.

The party was free and open to the public drawing in students, art connoisseurs and locals of Savannah. The event was sponsored by South Magazine.

If you didn’t get a chance to catch it though the exhibit In Living Color will be open through May 17. Students are offered a $20 yearly membership for the museum.
