Five dates around Savannah under $25.
Although I am chronically single, I love to save a pretty penny. Here are five Dates on a Dime that will get you out of the house but keep your money in your pocket (mostly).
1. Otium Studios Free Flow
Otium Studios offers a free “Free Flow” yoga class every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Eastern Wharf. Whether your companion is a friend or significant other, it’s a great way to start the week—all you need is a yoga mat or towel and a positive attitude. After class, present your Otium Studios coupon for 25 percent off at Bar Julian to level up your date.
2. NCG Studios $6 Tuesdays
NCG Cinemas, located near the Target on Abercorn Street, sells movie tickets for $6 every Tuesday. Add popcorn and drinks, and you can enjoy a night out for under $25.
3. Big Dawg at Baby’s
Baby’s General Store, at 37th Street near Wallin Hall, offers two hot dogs, a bag of chips and a drink for $9. It’s a simple deal that keeps both hunger and your budget in check.
4. Fabric Scrap Crafts
Many classrooms in Eckburg Hall provide free fabric-scrap bins. Search Pinterest for easy fabric-scrap craft ideas, then gather your free materials at Eckburg. It’s a budget-friendly date that ends with a handmade keepsake.
5. Easy Walk Around Daffin Park
Savannah is known for its parks. Forsyth Park is popular, but Daffin Park is a hidden gem. Its 1.5-mile trail circles the ballpark of the Savannah Bananas. Take a lap—or two—and bring conversation starters for an inexpensive, scenic outing.
Sarah is a third-year Fashion Design student with a minor in Fashion Journalism. She loves reading and writing poetry. When she is not at the Student Media Center, she can be found at a sewing machine in Number Nine or on a walk around Daffin Park. Although she hopes to pursue a career in fashion, she believes that she could not live without the ability to write.
