Yesterday, Sept. 11, SCAD released an updated schedule with the details for fall quarter move-in and orientation. This new schedule corresponds with the school’s one-week postponement of fall quarter due to Hurricane Irma and aligns with residence hall move-in dates.
Freshman students will move in Saturday, Sept. 16. Returning students, as well as new transfer and graduate students, will move in Sunday, Sept. 17.
According to an email sent out to the student community, students who relocated with SCAD to the Atlanta campus will be permitted to return to their residence halls in Savannah in the next few days. Those who have already checked in to their dorms and have keys to their rooms may return to campus on Saturday. Students will not be allowed to move in prior to Saturday due to limited food and transportation services.
Other groups of students such as resident assistants, move-in teams and orientation assistants will be contacted by their supervisors with more information regarding their work and move-in schedules. For students whose travel plans may prevent them from arriving during their designated move-in and orientation times will be able to check in until 10 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.
Freshman students who will live on the third and fourth floors of all Hive residence halls can move in between 6 a.m. and noon on Saturday. Orientation sessions for these students will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Students living on the first and second floors of all Hive residence halls may move in between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m on Saturday. Their orientation sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Those moving into Turner Annex should arrive between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m on Saturday. These students will join other Hive students at the orientation session from 9 a.m to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Summer Swarm students can move in between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m on Saturday. They need not attend orientation programming. Freshman students who are not living on campus should check in for orientation between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and may attend either orientation program.
A family orientation for parents who did not attend Summer Swarm will correspond with their student’s orientation. An additional session will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday. For parents of students who attended Summer Swarm, they may attend the optional orientation session from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
New transfer and graduate students are permitted to move in between 6 a.m. and noon Sunday, September 17 with orientation sessions from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. New students living off-campus can check in to orientation from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, and attend afternoon orientation from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students’ parents will follow the same orientation schedule as their students.
Returning students can move in between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 17. Students can view the complete orientation schedule at scad.edu/orientation.
