‘Late Night Polaroids’ Opening Reception by Emily Earl

Safe // Sound Gallery
In a series of photographs, local photographer Emily Earl documents the Savannah nightlife scene using a 1970’s Polaroid camera. After graduating from Savannah Arts Academy, Earl went to SCAD and received a degree in photography. The Sentient Bean and Desotorow Gallery have both featured her work. The show runs until Feb. 2.
Nikki Giovanni discusses poetry
7 – 9 p.m.
Student Union ballroom at Savannah State University
Nikki Giovanni, a world-renowned poet, will talk about how the role writing played in her life and how empowered her. She will also share some of her written work, answer questions and autograph books. This event is free and open to the public. To find more information, go to the event page.

Savannah Climbing CoOp

Critz Tybee Run Fest

The Critz Tybee Run Fest takes off on with the 5k on Friday night. The festivities keep going all Saturday, with the Sundae Café 10k at 7 a.m., the Critz Half-Marathon at 8:30 a.m., the 2.8 Beach Run at noon and the YMCA 1-mile run at 1 p.m. For more information, go to their website.

Junk 2 Funk Fashion Show

Savannah Arts Academy school theater
The Savannah Arts Academy Visual Arts Department will host “The Forces of Nature,” the sixth annual Junk 2 Funk Fashion Show. Students’ show off the wearable art they created out of trash.
