Alexander’s Bistro, located at Bull St. and West Duffy, opened earlier this year after being postponed due to the pandemic. This quaint, casual dining restaurant provides baked goods, sandwiches and other breakfast and lunch items. Only a block south of Forsyth Park, this is a perfect spot for a delicious daytime meal.

Chefs Aaron Rothman and Darren Gransbury pride themselves on bringing fresh pastries and bread, ingredient-focused food and a cozy atmosphere to their community. “They are experienced and well versed in all aspects of the restaurant biz and have worked together for over 11+ years,” states the restaurant’s website.

Alexander’s Bistro also showcases local art organized by the Savannah Art Association, an active group of artists holding art shows throughout Savannah. On September 29, the restaurant will host an Artist Reception where local artists can showcase their art and meet people from the area. Food and drinks will be served from 6-8 p.m., and there is no entry fee. Local art is also displayed and for sale daily.

While visiting Alexander’s Bistro myself, I was greeted with friendliness and hospitality in the counter-service-style space. The restaurant is bright, clean and quaint, having been built just before its opening. I ordered the fresh quiche and classic drip coffee, both of which were delightful. The quiche, filled with sausage, onions and cheese, was the perfect start to my day. Buttery, flaky and light, the meal delivered on freshness and exceptional ingredients. The coffee, an Ethiopian blend, was smooth and paired perfectly with my breakfast. This restaurant follows through on every promise it makes.
