Pumpkin spice latte advertisements are not the only calling card of October. The month of Halloween has arrived, and with it comes binge-watching our favorite gruesome and psychologically thrilling horror movies. Two of these famous films, “Rosemary’s Baby” and “Carrie,” are set to screen at the Lucas Theatre this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3.
“We have been talking about screening them for a while,” said Erin Muller, the managing director at the Lucas Theatre. “They’ve been requested a few times and we try to listen to our viewers.”
The 1968 psychological drama “Rosemary’s Baby” depicts the best-selling second novel by Ira Levin. This blockbuster marked directer and screen adapter Roman Polanski’s American film debut.
“Rosemary’s Baby” tells the story of Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow) a young woman who moves into an apartment in New York City with her husband, a young actor struggling to break into the field. Surrounded by unusual neighbors and occurrences, she becomes pregnant and begins to believe that her baby is not of this world.
“Carrie” is a supernatural horror film based on the novel by Stephen King. The 1976 film adaption was directed by Brian De Palma.
“Carrie” and is about 17-year-old outcast Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) who faces abuse from her high school classmates, and a different kind of abuse at home from her religious mother. After strange incidents occur she begins to realize that she possesses supernatural abilities.
